  1. Ive had a perfect opportunity to practise dismantling for a neighbour. Only problem is I dont have the equipment to get rid of the brash. Theres 15 conifers, on grass through a narrow drive so would have to be a Landy type vehicle with chipper. The brash will be stacked up and timber moved to one side, tip site half a mile down the road. Anybody possibly interested message me with availability and price im sure we can work something out. Even if someone just wants some work and can just burn it all im up for negotiation.
  2. Im after some high sides for my double cab navara. I dont want a pro tipper as I wont be filling it up enough to warrant it. Plus I already have a loadhandler so may aswell use it. I want someone to make 2 sides and a back board for it. ally plank if possible but any decent looking metal will do really that isnt too heavy. The bed measures 1500mm accross and 1470mm long, and I want them 625mm high. If they could be mounted on the origional tub and fixed down via the metal runners that run along the sides that would be perfect. Anybody who wants the job I will pay for materials and pay for your troubles of course If nobody wants it then does anybody know of where I can get some? cheers
  3. Hello again ive put up a few threads about vehicles recently because im looking at new arb trucks, but no matter what route I take or what I look into, the word LANDY always seems to come back to me. So im asking if anyone knows of, or anyone is up for hiring out a 110 or 130 td5 landy tipper/dropside for a day. I know some of the bigger firms offer test drive services of which you can take it home for the day but I cant find any that do it. Ive had a few half hour test drives with the salesman but they never really do it for me. I wont be taking it working, just drive it in every scenario I have locally, motorway, farmers feild, town and maybe hitch the trailer up for a few miles. any help at all would be greatly appreciated
  4. Hmm perhaps I should just save and get a landy then. As Hodge says I cant afford two lots of tax and insurance
  5. Im on the hunt(ish) for my first proper arb truck as opposed to a pickup. I want to be able to drive on farmers fields because im planning on offering a stock fencing service aswell but I cant find any transit countys anywhere. I was wondering if there is any scope to fitting slightly aggressive rear tyres on a transit and converting it to 4wd? Ive heard rumours of people doing this before. I know someone is going to tell me to get a landy and I really wish I could but I just cant afford a decent one. cheers everyone
  6. Cheers for the advice lads ill give it a go on a seperate note does anyone know if you can clip krabs onto the rings that connect either side of the bridge on the skylotec harness? Ive seen them used on the treemotion and it seems like a good idea for stropping in at awkward angles. im sure they are strong enough on the skylotec but i dont think their meant to be used for that. opinions?
  7. I'll do some fiddling with the VT and try the Knut cheers if all that fails I'll try and get my hands on a thinner rope
  8. I haven't done loads of tinkering with the vt To be honest I didn't think it would make a massive amount of difference. I think I could do with a thinner rope I agree. At the minute I'm messing around with 10mm ocean polyester and 13mm main line. I have also tried 8mm friction cord.
  9. I still can't find a system that works for me. I've tried a hitch climber with both VT and a distel but whatever hitch cord I use it always seems to bite off. either when I descend then stop or when I'm pulling slack in. so I tried a Prussic which works but obviously it doesn't self tend and still bites off when I descend them stop. My rope is 13mm it's a big bulky thing but I have no other choice in the matter because my boss doesn't let us use our own equipment. I'd invest in a spider jack if we could use our own gear but hey ho.
  10. So by the sound of it I need to stick to local cheap advertising and get some leaflets done! No shame in sticking leaflets through doors then?
  11. Ive been putting adverts out there for a while now but ive had no responce at all to them, only word of mouth jobs. How long did your advertisements take to have an effect and people ring up from them? cheers sam
  12. Ive only climbed on a LJ once but I agree with you I loved it. I usually climb on a hitch climber and im constantly changing the hitch I havnt found one I like yet. They always seem to bite off or slip. I borrowed one to have a climb on and I loved it, id even go as far to say it inspired more confidence not having to worry about a knot all the time! Great bit of kit
  13. Peter I will give you a call in the next few days to discuss what we can do for both cab sizes and I can then see if its worth trading the vehicle. I did think a conversion would be a long shot.
  14. I have seen the pro tipper mate and it does look like a great bit of kit I just dont know if its big enough. Ideally I wanted a tool box and doors aswell. Ill drop him a line anyway see what he can do
  15. Ill be awaiting the string of p**s taking that comes from this question BUT.... ive got a double cab navara and I want a tipper. Obviously the cab is too big for a decent size chip box on the truck so is there such thing as a double cab to king cab conversion? with a tipping chip box too...if theres no such thing (which im pretty sure there isnt) does anybody know if I can get a proper chip box and tipper fitted to the double cab model? thanks lads
  16. Thanks for all the compliments guys means alot
  17. Its one of these new low emissions grinders. Dont think much of it to be honest cheers jammy
  18. Ive just brought a grinder and everything and im finally set up with insurance kit and everything and im trying to get my first load of work in my first job was a huge (well it was for my first) beech stump and I actually enjoyed it im only doing it small time on the weekends mainly around Warwickshire and the West Midlands so if anyone has any work to get me going id really appreciate it and of course ill always welcome and tips or advice anyone can give S J PEARSON STUMP GRINDING
  19. I saw a video on climbingarborist.com about slack tending a prusik whilst ascending. Im just wondering if anyone knows of any way of doing it with a hitch climber? I know this sounds like the blindingly obvious and I dont know how to explain it so watch the video Advanced climbing techniques | Prusik hitch with slack tender I tried it with a prusik and it was brilliant but obviously once your in the canopy a hitch climber is favourable so if anyone has any ideas it would be great Also does anyone know where I can get one of those mini rope grab/ascender things hes using on the static end of his line?
  20. I suppose in a perfect world I could do with coming along with someone local on a little foreigner or something to have a practise. But the odds of that happening is slim
  21. So basically your saying the best thing is to just throw myself in at the deep end? I do see what your saying in that it is on me I just need someone to spur me on give me the confidence. Last time I did that he was literally just saying yeah that fork is fine or yeah anchor into that. So really it's just to get rid of the dougbt in my mind, and obviously for safety and all that
  22. Okay so I may be a bloody long way off climbing like any sort of pro what so ever but I need some confidence inspiring. I know ive put a thread up like this before but im asking if anyone is up for a rec climb just you and me to teach me the ropes (no pun intended ) and inspire a whole lot of confidence. Possibly turning into teaching me chainsaw in a tree stuff? I have got my CS38 and im really eagre to start climbing but im a long way off being able to make my boss money, and he just doesnt have the time to give to train me up so im asking anyone on here the reason I say one to one is because as I say my main problem is confidence and I have a stupid self concious thing going on. Payment in love/money/BEER PM me if your interested oh yeah im near Solihull but will travel
  23. That rings a bell mate yeah I saw a lad from Stump busters using one they looked great. Do you Know any places I could have a look?
  24. I have seen them cheers I just wanted something to compare them too. Thanks anyway
  25. Hi lads I'm after a stump grinder preferably either a husqvarna sg13 or similar, or the next step up a Small Carlton hydraulic self prepelled one I can't think what the model number is. Or similar obviously anyone have one they want to sell or know where I can get one then lete Know
