  1. Black jack Bitumin paint or if you wanted something thicker and nearer tar as was previously mentioned there's black jack trowel Bitumin .
  2. If you hang on about a month rob d on here who runs chainsaw bars is hopefully getting some 501sxh (heated handle) in. As soon as he says there here I'm placing my order. Also have nothing but great service from them in the past.
  3. Brilliant thanks, could you please let me know when they arrive.
  4. Thanks very much. Sick of having cold wet hands and don't fancy going down the husky auto tune route, also a lot of people on here are saying very good things about the 501.
  5. The 1 I looked at was a 952 synchro . Was put off when the guy selling it said the brakes were terrible from new. Now looking at a Marshall 110 6 cylinder hoping it'll be simple mechanics like the zetor/ Belarus but a bit better brakes and hydraulics. Anybody got opinions?
  6. Hi rob as per thread title I'm wondering if you can get hold of a 501sx with heated handles and also what would be the damage?
  7. Haven't had chance to fit it yet, had to get 50 ton away from a site last weekend so they could plough headland and the zetor decided to register it's protest by eating the seals in the brake master cylinders. Got a mate running billet splitter for me this weekend so hoping to have Sunday afternoon swapping blade.
  8. Alternatively your dad could pay the money then in a few weeks time on a dark night , knock it down again at least then you'd have value for money!
  9. Just looking at the 501 spec sheet and it mentions a plastic rotating chain catcher. Is this something that's disposable in that if you lose a chain off you have to replace it? It's not something that would put me off buying the saw but is it something you should have a spare of?
  10. Thanks for that will see if the local dealer can get hold of 1. Just about to go out felling and its pissing it down, I'm sick of having cold wet hands all day!
  11. Does anyone know if the echo 501 is available with heated grips?
  12. I know what you mean about down time on zetors, currently running a 7245 that eats brake cylinders both master and slave and a 10011? That won't drive pto. An old case would suit me fine as I did my apprenticeship on 956s and the like, Unfortunately every 1 I've looked at has a knackered handbrake, meaning it's been left on, possibly warming the crown wheel up to almost the point of destruction or the gear selectors are worn to buggery. Would like a 51 series but unless they've been well looked after and had regular hi-trans transfusions they can suffer clutch pack problems. The attraction of the eastern block machines to me is that if something goes wrong in the woods you can usually limp back home with it or at least bodge it to get the job done instead of having to call out an engineer.
  13. Thanks for that. Answered a lot of questions I've gathering up over the last couple of days. Probably won't tow much over 3 ton so brakes should be adequate hopefully. Machine hasn't been run for probably 5 years so I'm glad you mentioned about the 24v starting or it would have been a frustrating day trying to get it to fire. I was wondering if the 90 hp models ran the pto through a dry dual clutch or an Ipto pack? Have had a lot of trouble with a zetor regards hydraulic pump and clutch for pto and it's something I'm keen to avoid! The air brakes would be a bonus as I'm looking for a low loader to move the 40t splitter around and can probably find a better trailer by looking at hgv trailers (mot failures etc) than something that's been worked hard behind a tractor and neglected. - Andy Thanks for all the info from everybody who's taken the time to post:thumbup:
  14. Off the top of my head I think it's m reg. My main concern is if the brakes are any better than the ur1 zetors. The brakes on my 7245 are quite possibly constructed from bread rolls pressing onto a dinner plate and it makes for some interesting moments when winching or forwarding on hills!
  15. Need a slightly bigger tractor to run the splitter as the 75 hp zetor isn't really up to it . A friend has a 90 hp Belarus with damaged front diff, I'm considering buying it and just making it 2 wheel drive. It'll probably only run firewood machinery and do a bit of forwarding but would appreciate any info on reliability, usability, parts availability etc Thanks for any input- Andy
  16. Blade looks good but won't know for sure until it's on I suppose. Will try to fit it this weekend. Will be intresting to see if having a lot less teeth affects cutting performance. Hopefully piccy included.
  17. Turned up yesterday. Will open it tonight after tea and put some pics on I I can figure out how.
  18. Have ordered an eddesso blade, but it may take a couple of weeks to arrive. Will let you know how I get on with it.
  19. That's a really good price, but it's not carbide tipped so I'm not sure how it would fair with timber that's not spotless. Unless you knew how to sharpen such blades.
  20. If you mean the 1 on Amazon. It's a 700mm 42 toothed blade with a 35 mm centre hole. Not sure if that'll fit the mk11 as I have the older Palax 600. Don't know how to do linky but if you type Edesso Lwz 42 toothed circular saw blade. Should find it. My current blade is 62 teeth. Not sure how a blade with 42 will compare for cutting speed etc.
  21. On amazon there is a 700mm eddesso blade for £132 plus £13 delivery. Will probably order 1 myself after Christmas as a spare.
  22. A big thanks to you all for your input. Will look into getting a generator safe inverter welder for use out and about away from the yard. It just goes to show if your not certain about something it always pays to ask.
  23. Hi there. I have a pramac 6000s diesel generator and an old pickhill bantam arc welder. Is there anybody who can reassure me that by running the welder ( at fairly low amps) from the genset I won't damage the welder or more importantly the genset. Have asked a few electricians but nobody seems to be really certain. Thanks in advance for your help. Andy
  24. Hi rob. Do we still put " arbtalk " in the voucher code box of website, Just putting an order in but it keeps saying code not valid when I click on button to " apply code to order ". Thanks
  25.
