    Thanks for the advice everyone, thing is the battery is only 2 years old and only been charged say 10 times, just dont want this to keep happening hence why i posted this thread.

    My problem is is that the battery on the trailer is had it, someone told me about this lead idea which comes straight from the vehicle battery with an in line switch and fuse,this would save me replacing the battery and save having to keep charging it up just wondered if anyone on here has done it.

    Hi all, Has anyone got an ifor tipper powered by an Anderson lead from the towing vehicle ? Just that i want to convert mine to a lead from truck and wondered if it causes any problems or is it better to stay with the trailers own battery ??

    Also the thick red one, seems to have come astray, but not sure which one that goes into at one end either!

    Don't suppose anyone can help, got a tipping fault and trying to investigate the problem. Have take the yellow box apart (from the remote tipping lead) and there looks like a brown live wire has come loose maybe. Wonder if anyone could tell us where it goes! It might be easier to take a photo of the wiring if anyone has five mins to spare, would be very grateful. Cheers David

    APF ? brilliant as always, was looking at horizontal splitters in particular the one on wheels on the hillside from Ryetec 22t splitting force pto driven will take decent lengths of timber, question is would it split max lengths of say 2ft in diameter, Your thoughts please ????

    I would beef up the end where the splitter knife is, i had a single knife built on an I beam and the ram force started to twist the beam at the knife,dont think you can over engineer a log splitter.

    Bought my 280 in 2008, cracking machine,well built done 100,s tonnes since, only replaced the infeed belt as yet,output on a good day with straightish timber is app 10 tonnes with log deck .

    Yes i would say it will dry ok if you put york boarding up around the sides like you said,I would try to process your timber part seasoned and not rain wet either this along with good through ventilation should make good storage conditions.

    ive got a 280 bought new 3 years ago fantastic bit of kit well built easy to use and with the home made log deck i have it works well,If i was to change processor i would buy a posch any day.

    I would go for a 4wd and convert to tipper, good for those tight driveways and dont forget that snow we had in dec, save having to upset customers by delaying there del due to weather, you dont want to be postponing any deliverys in dec !!!!!

    It was 225 a week minimum 2 week hire from fuelwood, I used larch, makes good kindling, idealy the fewer knots the better.

    I had a kindlett on hire for 2 weeks in december and did 2500 nets, with good round timber you can do 50/60 an hour once you get the hang of it .

    Yeah i agree unless you split into really thin billets it wont be seasoned through for this coming winter, what you need is a big greenhouse natural kiln seasoning .

    If your going to use cordwood i would go for Larch softwood over pine because pine when fresh can go mouldy and also pine is heavier compared to larch so you will get less timber for your money, I,ve used the kindlett with cord and it works well once you have outted the bad knottey logs, good luck !!

    yes got quite alot of it processed down to log size already with a slight mix of ash and syc too it looks to be drying well and mc is slowly coming down, all pushed up on a concrete floor in an open fronted barn, thanks all for your advice .............

    wont be able to put on pallets need to use a loader to load delivery vehicle, All the other hardwood that ive seasoned and sold in the past has seasoned very well, was just unsure because never used alder before,

    Can anyone tell me whats the best way to season proccesed alder, am planning on storeing in a well ventilated barn with a concrete floor
