  1. Cognitive dissonance :laugh1: Makes me laugh
  2. I saw this comment posted by someone elsewhere and it mirrors my thoughts about it. I can't credit the poster as they posted anon. I've stopped getting wound up about now, nothing really changes for the better over time. Atrophy. Ron Paul, Tsipras, Trump, Corbyn.... In every political arena these 'faint hopes' are kept around to provide vents for public exasperation with the Establishment. They are part of the system of financial management, 'party politics' being the cleverest system of social control ever devised, in that it makes the population complicit in their own domination, while permitting them perpetually to imagine that change might come with the next election. The media can instantly silence or sideline any politician, so if one is being kept alive politically you know that, wittingly or otherwise, he/she is serving the Establishment's purposes.
  3. The problem will not be solved by trading standards unfortunately. They are not in a position to go after "the system". People are employed by large companies, legally, to ensure that 'parts' are sold, as I described previously. How can trading standards go against them? They can prosecute the little mechanic guy trading under an old victorian bridge and they can go after the plumber etc. installing cheap taps miss-sold as Villeroy & Boch but the the big boys are just TOO BIG!!
  4. Many thanks
  5. Agreed. My sister works for Mercedes Corp and is responsible for going round a region of dealers and setting yearly spares targets and incentives/bonus. The spares cover the whole range from filters and seals to engines and gearboxes!! It's a disgrace. I do everything myself now running a 20 year old Fiat Panda and a 16 year old E Class, They might look a bit scruffy but they are mechanically sound and low running costs.
  6. Quick question; I have the opportunity to carve 2 x 2m high mushrooms in a large red cedar stump. Would you experienced guys typically change over your blocking out saw to a ripping chain when carving down the stems? I don't have a ripping chain so I'm hoping you are going to say "No"
  7. fantastic, you should get your price for that
  8. Does that make it a Oben Arms? Jon, stick a piccy up if you take one, they are a good looking little mutt...
  9. Defo. I unhitch anything working for long periods with either the tow vehicle or machine running. Think of all those micro vibrations and the effect they are having on the damper/strut seals
  10. Your question is easily answered by having a basic understanding of maths. Look at the number of registered members and the increasing small number of those who post.
  11. Strewth, And people wonder why so many don't both to post
  12. Thanks Ian, very kind.
  13. Thats excellent. I have a lot of oak boards with splits that until now I thought would only be good for firewood. What epoxy did you use, was it West? and where did you get the pigment? Thanks
  14. My cousin has one, good looking little dog and I understand it has a nice friendly nature. But then both Jacks and Poodles are great little dogs.
  15. I had some oak timber out of an old roof put up in the 1920's. Although older than yours I found that it was impossible to split (using hydraulic splitter and cone splitter) and so hard cutting it with a chain saw quickly dulled the teeth, it did not burn well to boot. Ended up using it as border edging round the garden. Try burning a bit, you might find its more trouble than its worth if its seasoned bone dry.
  16. Before you right it off, try a bit of spray on 'belt dressing'. Sounds like a case of slipping belt / tension issue. If the belt dressing helps thats your clue.
  17. Many thanks Mick, you've given me the plan
  18. I didn't think of that Do you think that by reducing the willow where it crowds the spruce and by taking the top off, the spruce will re-grow on that side? Or is it more like Landi where once dead its always dead?
  19. Yes, thats it. It's not applicable to all, but the majority. That said, to a lesser or greater degree, I think we could produce an equivalent for every country looking towards the rest of the world:001_rolleyes:
  20. Hope some of you better qualified than me people can help. I have put this on this section as I am more of a tree planter and coppicer and would appreciate some advice. We have this blue spruce planted (by previous owner) right next to a large weeping willow. The willow has clearly grown faster than the spruce and therefore encroached on its space causing dieback on the spruce and a lean partly due to the willow but I suspect also due to the prevailing wind. To make matters worse the spruce is close to the house, no worries re the roots but if it went over it would likely damage our house. I need to perform a light reduction on the willow this winter as it is simply too big an I am worried it will leave the spruce at the mercy of the wind and our winter storms. What do you think? Remove it now or can I wire it in some way to the willow giving it some additional support? I really like the tree and would prefer to keep it if possible. Thanks
  21. For me it was not a case of him not liking Brits, it was more that typical often heard arrogant (sadly) american tone of 'no other way is right, only the american way'. The one that always sticks in my mind is 'your either with us, or against us' and look where that has got us all. I really wish the americans could broaden their minds a little more about the world out side of north america. However, that said nothing personal Mr Easy Lift, I've worked for too many American companies and know the attitude too well...
  22. If he owns the trees and they are on his land, providing there are no protection orders on them he should just be able to go ahead and do the works. If they border roads then the usual warning signs etc are required but thats about it. I am in the north but I doubt it is any different in 'Dordoneshire' than Brittany. If any any doubt get him to ask at the Mairie first, the secretary will know - she will likely say "Non" and give him a funny look for asking
  23. 3rd that for the UK. And if your in the system, it works here in France too.
