  1. You should have seen the place before he cleaned all the wizards out.
  2. I always get the boilerjuice quote and then start phoning round the local suppliers. Give them what I've been quoted by the last person, until the quotes stop going down. Boilerjuice won't haggle, the local guys always will.
  3. Boiler juice are expensive. I just phone round the local suppiers. Some are better than others though, one last year poured over 100 ltrs of water into our tank. Cost quite a lot to sort that one out.
  4. Toffee Apples, gets em every time.
  5. Yep, still there.
  6. Just thought I'd check and see if them pesky wizards are still about.
  7. We have some Aspen on one of the reserves I work on (an ancient woodland site in Norfolk) we've had a few people come and look at them and say that they could be the oldest organism on the reserve, being suckers from trees which first established soon after the last glaciation event.
  8. You sir, have missed your calling in life, best non-technical description of a telomere, I've ever read. You should have been a teacher.
  9. Think there might be some states where they can legally hang you for saying that. There still seem to be a lot of people over there who think the Judge in the Scopes Monkeys Trial was Satan himself (and a lot of schools ignoring the law, seemingly with impunity). Mind you we're starting to see it over here too.
  10. I know, takes more than my feeble mind to work it out. Someone, somewhere will know though.
  11. Husqvarna 550 xp Chainsaw Not 346xp | eBay Would love to know what's going on in this guys head................... or maybe not.
  12. Hmm, very interesting question. I think most of the answers so far relate to r/K Selection theory, which does not always correlate to species longevity. The limiting factor is more likely to be the ability of an organism to repair DNA over its lifespan, some species can do it for longer than others.
  13. If you can prove you have been maintaining that land for that long, and presumably you can, because the council have been asking you to, then you will have the greater claim over it, regardless of how much money he's got. Go for Factual or adverse possession.
  14. I thought that the words Natural and selection weren't to be used together over your side of the pond. Nice to see some of you do.
  15. Man that's rough, of all the pleasures of life, the enjoyment of food would be in my top 5 of ones I wouldn't want to lose.
  16. And a sandwich!

The Geese are raised in East Anglia Jon. I live in East Anglia and I much prefer Goose to turkey.

    Lidl.

They had plenty. If I had a bigger freezer I'd have had a few. I've never shopped in Lidl before, but I might go back.

So, got despatched by theherindoorsloveofmylifeshewhomustbeobeyedobjectofmydesiresreallyfreakingscarymadwomanwholivesinmyhouseandsometimessaysyes today to get a turkey from Lidl. Came home with a locally produced free-range Goose. £35.99, just couldn't say no.
  23. surely if the council asked for you to maintain the hedge, you should invoice them. They can then reclaim the cost from your dodgy estate agent.
  24. As an easy in, I would suggest cryptonomicon. Great book, makes your brain work hard and makes you laugh.
  25. I'm a fan of Neal Stephenson myself, Proper mind-bending stuff and like Pratchett, he's clever and funny. Favourite Pratchett quote "Don't know about you, but I could murder a curry".
