Cheers John. Don't have enough work for a tractor if I'm honest. Do see myself putting the axe down and using a splitter soon and kids keen to get dirty fixing one up. As long as spares available I'll consider anything. Dave

Not sold on a fergie. Got enough work for something its size here and I do like an engine to work on. Not a tractor man so got to look at available spares etc. Relying on long term tractor mechanic to keep me right when it comes to purchase. Thanks, Dave

I kept waiting for the RHI which kept getting moved back. My wife was concerned that if I got injured getting logs to us would have been difficult. It would have been our only heating so lack of automation a concern. Space to install a good sized thermal store was tricky. Any firm willing to undertake the work registered for grants wanted silly money. In the end I ripped out our blown air red diesel heating and went to a wet oil fired system. Wood burner still provides most of house needs and oil provides water and extra heat when needed. You're probably different as a self build as lots of our issues were about retro fitting to a house. I also considered, then rejected, a wood burning boiler to heat my place and I've a few acres of trees to feed it. Good luck with your plans. I'm too far west to make it practical to take you up on your offer. I do have friends I am happy to work with in return for logs but I tend to work a rule of quarters. 1st quarter mine as my land. 2nd quarter mine as my chainsaw, trailer, tow vehicle, fuel, mauls and ppe kit. 3rd quarter mine for my labour. 4th quarter I share for their labour. Everyone is happy but I can't help feeling it's a bit generous of me! Dave

No gaps in stacking and I did wonder if it would dry in the middle well enough. I am pleased it does and the middle logs do reach 20% but it takes 2 years. The logs to the outside go lower MC. Dave

Slightly larger scale. This is my 27m3 store. It's clear of the ground and gets lots of wind in the position it's in. I burn half each year and refill that half. Burning beech this year and it burns hot and slow so still got plenty left to share with FIL. Dave

Just knocked this up for my FIL. 4x pallets (1.5m x1.2m) free Preservative from shed Onduline roofing from merchant Took 2 hours to build off ground on bricks. Total cost £25 Just need to keep them in logs now! Dave

Look forward to seeing some time trial times! Just back from 4 mile run but more at home on my road bike. Our club time trial course is a slightly hilly 12 miles and I want to go under 30 minutes this year. Did a 30m 28s last year and got held up twice at junctions. Dave -
