  1. The staff i employ get paided there day rate as per normal . I dnt see why they should go with out as they work long days for me in the summer and dont get over time . There fore it equals its self out in the end . As for the sub contractors they get nothing .
  2. I have looked into the unimogs but they are a lot of money and dont seem to hold a lot . I would get a bigger lorry but my licence at the moment only covers me for 7.5 ton. It alright for you boys with c class licence but seem as i am about to spend almost 20k for a lorry i havent got a lot of change left t upgrade my licence . Thanks for the info treequip will look in to the trailer licences

    Contracts

There are lots of tender websites but they are a waste of time . Hortweek is a good place to start if your looking . I will say that i have been trying for a while to get a smaller contract but to no success. I have found in the past that the Pre qualification questionnaires often take smaller contractors out the frame due to financial and logistical capacity . If you can find a company to subcontract off of its the best way unless you have laods of money to throw at it .
  5. I am going to buy second hand and as new as possible. I have to buy a 56 plate or newer as our yard is not far from the low emission zone . I except that i have got to spend a good £15k plus. I have looked at DAF And they seem to be good motors.
  6. Hi there am looking for a bit of advice on buying a 7.5 ton for my company . Would be intrested on any opnions people have as well as suggested makes . Cheers
  7. A ex marine came into the school were we carry out some of our work and gave a talk on his time in Afghanistan. He stood on a mine and lost his left arm and leg. He was a total inspiration to every one there showing that you cant let life get you down . I have the up most respect for every one who fights for our country both past and present if it wasn't for them we may not be here today .

    Day Rate

I reckon you would be pushed to get three hundred per man per day . I would say the guys saying £600 +VAT is right .
  9. That s amazing i have never seen such a collection of tree surgery gear on one truck the poor thing must be dying .
  10. I agree to this if we go round felling everything then there would be no repeat work for this job . It is true that being an ash it will put on a large amount of growth if you reduce it but at least the tree will look better than if you pollarded it .
  11. Groundsman required for three days between 22nd-24th of November for company based near Reigate . Previous experience of wood chipper and ground saw would be good but not essential. There are more days available to the right person Please contact Graham on 07762 782 134 if interested
  12. Try stobart Biomass ( Was AHS ) the Guy he needs to talk to is called neil or charlie 01768593140. They can send a 8 wheeler or an artic but you must load .
  13. The tree looks like a good candidate for a 30% crown reduction . There doesnt seem to be a need to fell it or to pollard it unless there are structual issues. I think i would stip the ivy and re inspect the tree so that you are not guessing at what is underneath. If there are signs of basal or heart wood decay then i would just fell it rather than pollard . Outherwise a 30% reduction and major deadwood would probable do the job
  14. Hi there . I am looking for some advice on buying a 7.5 ton lorry for my tree surgery business . I have heard many mixed reviews about diffrent models and types . I would be intrested in any advice and opnions people have .
