  1. The worst possible words to hear when you have finished and packed up!!! I judge each situation on its merits... i.e few cuts, no probs....... but anything more than that i will explain that it will cost them x ammount more on top!! Best to do it with an emotionless expression on your face and stick to your guns!!
  2. wish i had this 'problem' If it was 50k on an arb co. i wouldn't hesitate to get a MOG with pto chipper!! Oh well, never mind - better stop dreaming!!
  3. Thats good to know Pascal thanks. I'm not too worried if bigger stumps would take longer - just concerned that 1. its a good reliable machine 2. its manouverable 3. it can be loaded easily onto transit via ramp (i believe its a self driven machine, the rg25hd) 4. that i could get something more powerful for the money? and 5. its about the right price that i've been quoted!
  4. Yeah would prefer the access to be as little an issue as poss, but would consider a bigger machine (prob 2nd hand to keep the budget similar). Only thinking new so that i'm fully aware of its history etc, but perhaps i'm being paranoid!! WoodED, would a preditor be a big jump in size and price and would it be easier (or less tiring!) to use?
  5. Oh boy, what a situation!! What was the outcome - half a tree left in place and no money, and ear bashing from tree owner.... or tree down, got paid by neighbour and a black eye from tree owner?! Seriously though, i have wondered about these types of misunderstandings before. Don't have any preformas for this though i'm affraid. But you have inspired me to perhaps come up with a pre works contract or agreement sheet! Hope you got it sorted
  6. Cheers for replies chaps! So you seriously think its only for small jobs then? Medium stumps a no-goer? If going a step up in size power etc do you still get ease of access or does that go out the window? I was looking at the rayco purely for manouvering it easier than a bigger machine. Whats the jump up in price to a hydralic beast as i haven't really looked at anything bigger yet?
  7. If anyone has other suggestions for similar machines, other makes, models that would be welcome too! Thanks guys
  8. Hi guys I'm about to purchase a stumpgrinder and I just wanted to get peoples opinions on them. The Rayco rg25 hd is a machine that looks like it will do the job. Have any of you got experience owning/using this machine and what do you think of it? I've been quoted £7200 inc vat.... is this a fair price for the machine? Responses very much appreciated, Pete.

    new dog

Some fine looks dogs chaps!! The pup 'jacko' looks like a beauty (great markings!) and im loving the pic of 'ash' in the cab!! Would love to get myself an 'arb dog' but not sure i could face picking up sh*t for the next 12-15 years or so!!!!!!!!!
  10. You've got to start somewhere Clive.... once seasoned for 18-24 months (its Beech) it will be good quality firewood. If your selling in nets it will make you a nice few quid - if your stockpilling for transit loads/dumpy bag etc sales then make sure your price reflect the costs incurred in purchasing it plus labour/fuel etc. Good luck with it mate!
  11. Sport and documentaries are the only thing that gets watched on my tele. And thats on a sunday evening at best! Just reading about all these utterly annoying programmes and adverts is enough to make me explode..... I would rather feed myself through the chipper or logsplitter my own head than watch the crap that is passed off as entertainment. I'm led to believe that watching daytime tv and soaps actually reduces your level of IQ.......................... now theres a worrying thought for this tv addicted nation
  12. I agree jon.... don't undersell yourself paul! Your quallies are a great start, once you have found your feet with some intensive initial work experience, don't hesitate to demeand a proper wage Best of luck mate
  13. awesome pic Badgermert!!
  14. How is James still alive?!! or is he??
  15. Yeah, I love sailing.... Learnt to sail keelboats whilst at uni in soton. We had a baptism of fire learning in and around the solent (very busy with oil tankers, red jet ferries and various other big commercial vessels everywhere, not to mention the pleasure boaters too!). Used to sail an x-yacht that my uncle kept at Parkstone yacht club in Poole harbour. Used to race and have great weekends away on the I-o-W. Also used to get away to the channel islands and french coastline. Really miss it since the boat was sold! Luckily my love of the water and watersports is fed by my neighbour who has a boat - we go wakeboarding with whenever the conditions allow!!
  16. "Lucky you didn't get a big belt off the cap"....... i'll say!! Glad you didn't mate! Hope you get it sorted
  17. Les, pretty much every bit of kit you could think of covered in those two! nice one
  18. The cheeky blighters Tom!! That really takes the biscuit!! Will check out all of the mentioned auctions - always good to see what kit is going, in case either a bargain pops up, or something useful!
  19. when is that sale Tom? My parents live in north somerset so i might pop along if you think there my be a few decent lots going?
  20. im nervous about ebay.... i had too many bad experiences a few years ago with items unrelated to arb - and i'm too sceptical about condition of machines, or the origins of said machines to trust it... especially with chainsaws and other arb gear
  21. Personally i'm sticking with the 200t for the moment. I'm happy working with it, used to it, happy maintaining it etc. I will look forward to hearing how people get on with the new 201t, but i can't see myself ever switching to husky. Stuck in a big stihl rut!!
  22. So to have a mog as your front line truck in thoery could be a viable option..... I suppose running a small pick up or landy for example would compliment a mog, as you could zip around for tiny jobs/quotes/hedge cutting etc and bring out the heavy artillery at all other times when required! I'm guessing a mog acts as a pretty good advert too?! Now I consider the pros and cons the less apealing setup is the truck and chipper!! What is the carrying capacity in terms of chip weight etc?
  23. I love the idea of having a mog for work.... but how many of you guys use it as your main vehicle? Is it more or less useable than tipper transit and tow behind chipper? No doubt more expensive to run, but is that offset by work productivity? As mentioned on another mog thread - "don't get one coz its 'cool'" - this i apreciate but i do however see the pottential in the beast as well as the fun element!!
  24. For clarity - grease nipples are on the same side as the ignition (opposite the blade changing hole/slot/window/thingy!!)
