  1. HOW DID YOU GET THAT?! Jealus Sam
  2. Ahh I see. Nice rig, my mentor in foxing swears by his ferguson, by god its nice. Would like him to do me a super lightweight hill rifle unmodded at some point when I have the money, in .270 of course Straight pull I assume? Sam
  3. Heaven for the climate, hell for the company
  4. Bingo, a mate just told me that Swillington Shooting Supplies was a Browning Stainless .270WSM for £700 including mod. Dont know if its still about but last time he was in it was there, in good nick too Number for them is 01132864 097 Sam
  5. Will do, that sort of thing is a tall man in china, so to speak, so if there's one going It will get found soon enough. Sam
  6. Fool. But what a way to describe it... best headline of the year Sam
  7. Ahhh, didnt think you might be punching paper with it Hope you have fun - BOOOOOOM. Ill have a talk to my target buddies for ya matey, see if they have anything kicking about in .270 shortarse Sam
  8. Nah, Im for the husky ones me, though I don't have issues with the Stihl ones... just like my cut off caps Sam
  9. Burdy should be along soon. He is on there Forestry & Arb course at the moment. Its a good course though from what I can tell, tutors are decent and know their stuff, but like I say, you really need to speak to people on the course I know a lot about the actual college, since I grew up on the place, but little about the actual course. Its a good place though Sam
  10. Not quite... 2 grain difference, 68 gr - 66 gr. Its not much I admit... but still, I'de rather have it than not. Shoulder angle I'm not sure about. Sam
  11. Done
  12. Using the same weight projectile? Bigger case capacity. But the bigger range of bullets availible for the 06 makes it more versatile. Bigger case = more powder = more Wumph. Just my opinions
  13. JUst thinking about it... what the rig? Barrel length etc.? Im so nosey! Cheers mate
  14. You get those figures of a chrony? They are impressive, almost matching .270 speeds. But at range the .270 is going to hit harder. How are you getting TSX in 140?! Can you get me some? I have only ever seen them in 120 and 130. I dont like .243 for reds, even though I have shot enough of them with one. Unless your bullet placement is bob on then a decent sized beast often doesn't drop with a H/L shot. As a guide thats too big a risk to take, hence why lots of estates are asking for guests to use a bigger calibre. Best leaving it to varminting, what it was made for. Sam
  15. What you shooting? In mine (Tikka T3 with a 20inch barrel) I use 160 round-nosed for woodland (munties, roe, red, fallow), 120 Nosler Ballistic Tips (Hunting type) for red hinds, roe on the hill. And 140 soft point spitzers for red stags and occasionally Hinds (Hill work). Either of 'ems better than a .243 though! Sam
  16. Depends what your doing IMHO. A 6.5x55 is a great woodland rifle, sub 200m I don't think it can be beaten, but once you get out to 200-300m then the trajectory is so loopy its like firing over the rainbow. I think that the .270 is probably the best off the self hill calibre about, apart from maybe a .30-06 if your man enough. I reckon more deer have been killed up north with a .270 than anything else, though maybe a .243 is getting close these days. Sam
  17. Sorry mate now. Can I just ask, without being rude, why the foof do you want a WSM?! Within a year cases etc will be impossible to get hold of due to the fact even the Yankees' don't like them! IMHO They don't do anything a .270 (Unfashionable at the moment I know, but still one of the finest medium game/medium-long range calibers ever made) will do. If you want something a little better than a .270 but still shizzle hot look at the .280 Sam
  18. Border Barrels jobs? <Druel> Sam
  19. Lets play the guessing game:thumbup1: Tikka or Sako? Might be a Brno? T8, might be a T4...? Ziess, or maybe S&B 8x56? Harris Bi-pod. Sam (Rifle Saddo )
  20. Its all good. As long as folk don't go around eating chickens in a red suit they're safe enough!
  21. Hi Dean, Looks like a Birmingham gun to me. If you can get anymore detailed pictures (especially action and barrels.) Then If I cant work it out I'll send them to a friend, works for Holts, who will know. Sam
  22. Nice pair matey, classics. Sam
  23. Bullet guns, pellet guns, shot guns, pre ban pistols! Whatever goes pop
  24. Classic Brno .22 there Respect. Brilliant rifle. Might root out some more of mine
  25. Hi mate, Rifle is a Steyr Prohunter in .243 Scopes a S&B 8x56, and a T8 mod (big black one) changing to an Ase Utra Stainless one in the later photos. The carcass is a roe I neck shot @ about 130m a year back. Bullet was a 95gr. Nosler "hunting" Ballistic Tip. At the time I used that rifle for my small deer stalking, I have now changed to a 6.5x55 for better stopping power, but the .243 still does the business on rabbits-foxes out to 300m Sam
