  3. i thought this fungus looked a bit sinister, what do you guys think. travis
  4. is it the same measurment for all saws? i have a T200 and a husq575, after sharpening the teeth, to set the raker depth, can i use the same gauge for both chains?

    034 av

hi, quick question, we have a knackered engine 034 av. for someone else, who is a amateur, would the saw be worth doing up? is there a following for the german made saws ?
  7. I am in Nantwich, Reaseheath doesn't run the UA1, UA2 utilities arb courses. is there any where else you lot can recommend ? ive been to Base uk, and they are great, but if there is somewhere close by ? thanks
  8. agree, the husq 346xp is packed with modern features and the engine is the 'X-Torq' their best saw ? i have a husq 575xp and its fantastic too.
  9. agree about the kick-back, clearly visible when i replayed the vid. t
  10. i think the owner wants to have a crack at fixing it. t
  11. i took off the exhaust and indeed the piston is buggered. so its going to need piston and cylinder. have been told to get after market stuff on ebay. the saw was bought on ebay for £160 and it was supposed to be a good runner! thanks all for the help. t
  12. i have a stihl 034, (engine knackered btw) can you lot tell me what file size i need for sharpening???? have a super day travis
  13. right, chuck the fuel in the carb, i will look at the piston, i may have miss-remembered the 035av.
  14. do you mean big gauze pads with bandage already attached and ready to go ? i have some and they are called ambulance dressings, No4 i think. you can get them online at St Johns ambulance or Staffaid.
  15. yes it is the same tree as the other thread. and yes they are new houses and yes, there was root damage done by the digger, when the developers dug out the car-park. My neighbour saw this happening. There were some fungussy mushrooms around the base, i've dug in some manure around the tree. I know i should have photographed the 'shrooms, but i was hoping they were just innocent and growing under the geo membrane thats down.
  16. the tree is oak and a few months ago it was weeping sap, which pooled in the soil. now there is a crack in the bark. the soil is clay, there is pavement one side and bitchumen carpark the other side. both of which will obviously have been dug through the root system when these houses were built 7-8 yrs ago. The tree is about 15 yrs. there is geo membrane over the soil + gravel.
  17. i'd like to know what can be done to improve the soil around a tree. should i dig out some soil and replace it with manure or mulch ? or is using any sort of tool around the root system potentially going to introduce disease and fungus.? thanks
  18. "Do you have the luxury of trying to improve the soil conditions" How do i improve the soil conditions ?
  19. here is a shot of the canopy on the damaged side (West).
  20. my oak tree was doing the same thing with the sap and smell. the sap has dried up two months later, but there is a 5" split in the bark, and look like it may split in other areas.
  21. After posting questions questions previously about this tree. i learned that it was fluxing it's sap and the sap or inner wood or both were fermenting. the sap seems to have dried up, however, there is now a 5" spilt in the bark right down at the base of the tree- exactly where the sap was welling up from above or below the soil level. can anybody tell me if a split in the bark is good or bad?
  22. save the wood and sell it to a furniture maker. where is it now ? i'm sure the wood would be good for wood turning.
  23. mesterh: i tried the link and couldn't find the download any where on my machine. very suspicious website. any how, it sounds straight forward. leave it to someone else hahaha its not my saw, so i might give it back to them with the bad news. thanks
  24. how much money is it likely to cost to have a tired engine reconditioned? and is it something that can be done at home? thanks G
