My understanding is that it is a parasite, but generally harmless to its Host. We tried grafting some on to Limes at our site, from a load we obtained from an avenue of Veterans that were felled at Hampton Court a few years back, unsucsessfully it has to be said. http://www.mistletoe.org.uk/

Out of interest Huck, what saw/s did you use for the Coros? And was it priced into the job? In terms of time, fuel and hassle. This sounds a tad anal, but ive been looking at and photod natural branch breakages and they appear to include an element of Fracturing, so we're going to try and add Fractures to the branch/trunk ends before we start coronetting, think this helps make it look more realistic.

Very good Coros Huck, Only your third attempt, then im impressed. It's obviously not rocket science but they can go V wrong. That would blend in nicely at my site.

Next week we've got Treevolution coming down for four days, to train the team in CS41. This will be a refresher for two of us and training towards assessment for the junior members of the team.

First picture is Salix alba. Very easy to coronet. Glad you are making use of the pictures, thats what this forum is all about. Feel free to keep showing them. Good luck with your mono, post some pictures if you get a chance. Please make sure you write down somewhere accessable, that someone will need to monitor the on going condition.

I quess in that situation the saw is self tethered via the hydraulic hose. If you were to use a pole chainsaw in a mewp, then it really should to be tethered to the cage. Hazzard obviously being the drop. Are there any other implications to consider, SWLs etc...? It is far too easy and inviting to overreach whilst in the cage when your work position is a tad short. This is when the pole would be best used in an aerial situation.

This will put the cats amongst the pidgeons........ .......I have often wondered whether using a pole prunner would be good practice or not, in a MEWP. I'll now sit back and let the vitriol spew forth !!!!!!!!!

We didn't use the MEWP on the Beech Monolith, although dead it was still climable. Job took 2 days for 2/3 man team. The Coros were also carried out from a harness. Try not to do this as a rule as work positioning is generally compromised even on spikes. Coros and MEWPS go together like Morrisey and Marr Heres a few more.

This particular dead hedge now has self seeded elder, bich & robinia plus bramble coming through. But i do like the Whips idea, gives greater scope for species diversity. Cheers Ed
