  1. To be found in the near future, surfing the back posts here on all the big dismantle shots. The poor lad will require therapy before he even starts shaving
  2. Are we talking Rich Tea, Digestives or something altogether more fancy ?
  3. Will do Drew, cheers for the info
  4. Says the North and South MEWP Appreciation Society NASMAS  It's a very secret society; Only open to those who pray at the alter of Booms with Buckets attached/not just Hooks
  5. How old is that, does it need any maintenance?
  6. Did a big Pop reduction at a house in swanky Hampstead. The hired MEWP burst a hydraulic hose all over the 8 million pound gaffs drive, just as we started the job. Luckily the local landscaper did a stirling clean up job with no one the wiser
  7. A few more shots. This was one of the fellas on the teams first MEWP job. He was still smiling back at the yard
  8. Just got our Denka DL28 back from refit, Loler cert and servicing ( Three Months ) Here's a few pics of a dead birch takedown and coronet, espeicialy just for one of it's biggest fans. I know youv'e been missing my MEWP posts, Mr Huck. FTR...... no, it could not have been climbed; and felling was not the best option as it stood next to a £60k listed wall rebuild.
  9. Very nice Kids must love it
  10. All well made points that add good balance to this post, and I appreciate the lack of canines up to this point Dean to be honest I use the same technique with the slew control......................but are you guys not seeing how much the saw jumps back tip first towards the cutters head I dont see methodical control in that. Quote from Cs 47 "Two hands on chainsaw whilst cutting" and before anyone says anything, I am well aware of how arsy it is to quote regs. But this action would in no way lead to succesful attainment of said ticket. Quite the opposite. IMO, this is probably the exact situation, due to the all to often associated accidents, which makes HSE so over the top with training and PPE requirements. I would be all for personal assessment by the industry that would take account of an individuals previous experience, safety/training records, insurance histories and above all common sense. And maybe this is where the heckles are gonna be raised......................but isn't this exactly the type of seemingly inconsequential act that alienates most of us (dare I say realists) here at Arbtalk with the "so called professional side" of our beloved industry. Right............ Rant over, I'm sitting comfortably have turned off the phones and barricaded the doors and windows. Bring it on Fellas  One last thing, thanks for the clarification and appologies to you Deva, cause although this is on a post with your name, this is in no way meant as a personal dig to your good self or your coleagues, your just the innocent catalyst here. Cheers, David
  11. Got a couple of fellas doing their assessment in a couple of weeks. Has anyone done a 41 recently; and if so how much dismantling is required for the assessment per candidate. Whole Tree - small/medium? How many Large Branches? Pole sections - how many? I'm sure I was probably told on the course by the trainer, but have misplaced that info somewhere in the grey matter. This is another point; what do you think is the optimum time between training and assessment?
  12. Cheers for the Head up Dave, We have'nt tried it as yet
  13. Ok, probably wont make myself any friends here; but whats with the one handed saw use @ 2.30 all about? Especially from a MEWP I do enjoy the vids Bodean, but the experienced have a duty to act professionally/responsibly in front of the the less experienced on open forums like these. Yours and others work shown here and elsewhere are an inspiration to many, IMO a little more work on the editing front is needed to tighten up on what otherwise is source of enjoyment and education. I'm probably guilty of the occasional lapse/over confidence in technique myself from time to time and would expect the same heads up from fellow forumers, if my posts showed anything untoward. Hope my insignificant rant does not put you off posting again. I certainly would be sent to Coventry or worse, by the upper echelons here if you take too much offence by this
  14. Just spoke with Jonesie; the Mbl is 16.2kn for the Marlow boa 9mm.
  15. Thanks for the reply Nick, haven't as yet managed to get the info on the SWL of the cord, still trying (Jonesie; get off the phone !) Another point was; are the front two side D's appropriate for this bridge position?
  16. As this is not an approved componant or tested, I wondered if this theoretical rope bridge set up would be LOLER comlpliant or not. Couldn't get any info from the spec sheet that came with it or from the web address for Haberkorn. or .
  17. Fanblinkintastic. How much is that Ed?
  18. My understanding, which is of limited usage; is that as long as you can get near a roost entrance you should be able to hear their communication. Is this wrong ?
  19. yeah, we use them for our dusk bat walks.
  20. Dean I agree with your sentiments, but law is law. Not trying to step on your toes here Chris, cause I know Dean has shown interest in attending one of your events, but have you thought about contacting your local BCT Dean............ http://www.westyorkshirebats.org.uk/frame.htm You may find that you get the opportunity to engineer a simbiotic relationship with a local bat handler. We attended the AA bat awareness course with with Andrew Cowan, but we still get our local handler to check out our potential Habitat issues
  21. Great things happen in the name of Chariddy. Good on ya Lee :icon14:
  22. Californicate his bloomin socks ! What about me Blue Bells
  23. Saw this Old Robur whilst driving back from the Blue Bells today and felt sad. Then saw the whipper snapper planted alongside; and felt a liitle less pessimistic
