  1. Another 'unique' Reg Coates video that I've enjoyed watching. Thanks for taking the the time to plan and put it together. Looked a very impressive tree that was over its prime. Did Daniel consult on the decision to remove the tree? Or was he just brought in as the contractor to to do the removal? Has anyone got an idea on when it was planted? With regards to the crane work, it must be a big decision on how large a section to remove in one go when the canopy of it interacts with neighbouring sections. I expect your experience wins out each time you rig one out, but wondering if you lost any significant branches in the drop zone from snappage on this job? Looking forward to the next instalment .
  2. some 'non' chainsaw orientated arboriculture...... [ame] [/ame] .
  3. Last image 'looks' to have gills Pau........I mean Simon If that's correct (picture's a little unclear tbh) that would rule out the polypored dryads saddle are there any clearer close ups Mr Quercus? .

  7. One of our random plots landed where I work. It's pretty amazing to see how some parts of London's treescape has changed over just the last century. .
  8. Have come to the end of my involvement as a volunteer with the London iTree Eco project. My team managed to get access to 9 of our 10 alloted plots. We spent about 4 hrs a day across three days in the field collecting the data & an additional 4 hrs uploading the data to the website. a few teething problems with the recording sheets but generally Ok. Literally just finishing updating the site data to the iGiGl website. Will now wait to hear when all the info comes back in with the report, which will probably take a few months. I'll post that up when I hear anything. Fairly varied sites ranging from street, social housing, commercial, woodland, lakes & private gardens. .
  9. I don't think its a annual fruit body of Inonotus hispidus, this 'looks' more of a perennial bracket like Ganoderma sp .
  10. bit difficult on the first one from that image, the second is chicken - Laetiporus sulphureus .
  11. New fangled submarinarb we've been trialling Blinkin iPhones .
  12. Sounds like a good plan .
  13. I couldn't't really give you any specific advise regarding this tree without having access to the condition of the roots in the flesh. I can say that I have seen both maiden and reduced trees survive standing with P. squarrosa in tow, for a number of years but have also witnessed a couple of failures due to the root and buttress decay of this pathogen. A reduction (at least) would be a prudent way forward .
  14. I would say they are Pholiota squarrosa, they can be implicated in root decay leading to wind throw. Take a look at the fungi directory gallery above for more info.... Pholiota squarrosa - Shaggy Scalycap - David Humphries’s Fungi Directory - Arbtalk.co.uk | Discussion Forum for Arborists Have you considered the Arbtalk Fungi App? .
  15. Oak with Grifola frondosa on an internal road at the Royal Holloway University Campus. Also a couple of unknown Ganoderma fruit bodies starting to develop out of the trunk wound. .
  16. Messing about on & over the water today. Old coppice willow that are starting to fall apart on the bank of a ladies bathing pond. .
  17. Phellinus ignarius white rot, making this willow easy pickings for what ever avaians have decided to set up home in. .
  18. Training sessions have taken place across Europe. The UK one was in Epping Forest Videos will be released soon. There's a seminar taking place in Sweden on the 15th of October 'Securing the Future for Veteran Trees across Europe' Vetree - Veteran Tree Network Not sure if there are any places left .
  19. First one from 4 years ago didn't really gone anywhere tbh, it's still on the shelf, which is a shame. We then did a bit for a set of videos for the VETree project, then this one the other day which is an internal media thing for works YouTube channel. .
