  1. Getting there, which one ? .
  2. Nope, you'll kick yourself .
  3. You quite sure of that ? I meant lets have your subjects up for grabs now .
  4. Well I am older than most plus the bruised pores were a bit of a curve ball Can you show the original so that people can see the context Guess we should let sean have his go now (posts 28/29) Would be good if others kept having a go ??? I can't help myself (its a compulsion !) .
  5. Ooops, Polyporus squamosus ? .
  6. Daedaleopsis confragosa perchance ? .
  7. Woah horsey, lets get the one from Rob above first .
  8. Hello Gavin, how are things? Your specimens could well be Rigidoporus ulmarius. Personally (from experience) I find it prudent to look at the whole picture before getting too focused on an identification. An image showing the pored underside & a sliced wedge showing the flesh and tube layer are useful additions to the Id task. Particularly when trying to determine similar species like Rigidoporus & Perenniporia Impressive fruiting ! Do you know what's to become of the tree? regards David
  9. Mmmmm, difficult one Kretzschmaria deusta ? .
  10. Thanks Ian, I'll try and look out for it next year. .
  11. Where was this being hosted? .
  12. This is perhaps where the BMS is not getting the message across. Yep, D. quercina Your go? .
  13. Cortinarius species (web cap) I would think, unlikely to be involved in the decline of the beech .
  14. Number 2 (feel free to add your own) .
  15. Stick with it, its about the learning I'll try to use common species as well as less common to give everyone a chance. Here's the first one seen today at Anglesey Abbey in Cambridgeshire Coprinus comatus - shaggy inkcap .
  16. Its white and......fibrous No, but a decent guess .
  17. Yes, I imagine God probably does know Not Pholiota squarrosa thanks for giving it a go .
  18. In celebration of National Fungus Day, it would be rude not to have a thread at Arbtalk of the fungal kind so, detail shot of..............? .
  19. Great hot spot for them in that there mulch Still only seen this in Spain. Is it fruiting at the same time as last year? .
  20. its crown did look sparse. the sapwood look good though, also only minor heart rot (judging by the few cross sections that were in the footage) I'm interested (as well as in the crane work and the documentory) to know if there was a diagnosis for the Madrone's decline (Reg?) .
  21. not suggesting there would need to be a separate consultant Mark, just interested in how the Arboricultural management around trees like this pans out in parts of the world I'm not familiar with. .
