Think beech is used for the butcher blocks i have plenty of beech cut a 8ft if your near northumberland.Don't think ash is any good to soft.

my grandad joe macneil was from newfoundlad,and he logged over here durining the war.He passed down how to horse log, 3 of his son's johnny danny and duncan macneil are in the forestry business with 4 grandsons working in the north east. -

Hi mark,Happy new year could not deliver your mothers firewood as the road to her house is all iced up,There must have been two cars stuck on tuesday, just waiting for it to melt.If you are up in elsdon let me know if you want to do some proper tree felling.ha ha
