  1. Not the greatest photo but my little 3.4KW Morso is superb. The only issue I have is keeping the house cool enough!
  2. Give Col at Chipper Hire South West a call, he has a few to choose from!
  3. Whether this is relevant or not, you decide! Many years ago, I had a pair of trousers that were the highest level of protection at the time (early 1990's) The arse had ripped out of them but the legs were complete so we decided to see just what they would stand up to. We stuff a log down each trouser leg of a diameter roughly that of a leg. First test, a Stihl ms200. Dropping it onto the leg from full throttle with the trigger released, it bit into the trouser and stopped dead without going through. Done again but with the throttle held on full, it again stopped but not until it had lightly broken through the inner lining, probably would have ended up with a few stitches in the leg. Finally we tested it with a Husqvarna 262XP on full throttle, it didn't even slow down. My personal view is this: whatever level of protection the trousers offer, work as though you're wearing shorts!
  4. I own a 2.8 metre SIB (basically, a RIB with a sectional Aluminium floor and an inflatable V-keel) and power it with a Parsun 9.8hp 4 stroke. I chose this because I can easily launch and retrieve it single handedly. If you plan to fish on your own, bear this in mind. There's nothing worse than planning a days fishing with a friend who will help you launch a heavier boat to be let down on the morning! On the safety side, you could do an RYA powerboat course. It is imperative though that you do take the one day radio operators course and carry at least a hand held VHF. Personally, I never leave shore without a lifejacket, no matter how calm. I have a PLB attached in case I fall overboard and cannot get back in the boat. I also carry a set of Inshore flares too, you can't be too careful out there! Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll love it!
  5. Hi John, Without a doubt, it's Goat Willow!
  6. My wife has an allergy to them and usually the bites become infected needing a trip to the GP for antibiotics. On the doctors recommendation, she now takes a daily anti-histamine tablet during horsefly season and applies insect bite cream straight away. She's had several bites with no ill effects now in the last two years!
  7. No, you're not mental, you're a tree surgeon! I stopped climbing 10 years ago and still do this every day! Unless of course we're both mental.......

  9. I have just taken in a trade in Greenmech Arborist 130 on Friday with only 100 hours on the clock. It has a 23hp V-twin B&S petrol engine, a 6" x 9" throat and is fully braked. £7500 + vat. Give me a call if you're interested! 07774 282488, Julian
  10. This is usually due to the exchange rate. Although the exchange rate is flexible, export/import prices are set in advance in most cases with either the buyer or supplier absorbing the changing rate, depending on which way the change flows. On top of this, the cost of shipping has to be added.
  11. Many years ago I was working for a mature male gay couple on a very wet, cold winter day. My young blond groundie was looking particularly drowned and miserable when they approached him, felt his damp clothing (focusing on his bicep area), fussed around him a little and insisted he went in the house with them so they could "Get something hot inside you"....... It's amazing how quickly he warmed up as he got on with his work at double speed!

  14. Morning, The paint code we use for the standard Greenmech green is RAL6018. Cheers, Julian
  15. Hi Adam, Having been in a very similar situation to you I know how hard a decision this is to make. For me, it proved to be the best decision ever. I was fortunate to move into arboricultural sales so was able to stay wthin an industry I love. The real bonus was around six months into the new job I actually woke up one morning with no pain whatsoever, just proving really how physically demanding this industry is on your body. Whatever you choose to do or which path fate takes you down I wish you all the best for your future.
