  1. Fuelwood sell one a free standing one looks good! Just wanted to see whether any of you guys had come across these beet cleaners... thinking now its a bit extreme!
  2. Hi guys! been looking into the quality control of selling logs. When your processing logs flat out in the day its hard to control the so called bits i.e bark, thin bits, sawdust going up the elevator when you want to maximise outputs! So when I priced up tumblers from 6k - 7k its money that cant be justified in my eyes on separating trash. A salesman told me to get a second hand sugar beet cleaner as its been done by someone who he knows and costs around 1k! I have found a tidy machine but just wanted see if anyone on here has used them for logs??? or what they think??? pro's and cons etc... cheers
  3. Samtheoldgoat! hi pal, we supply logs in Pemebrokeshire! Can have a look on the website Hopshill Firewood for some info or phone andrew on 07974020550 for advice or enquires. More than welcome to come to the yard to have a look! Cheers, James
  4. Just wanted to know what you guys think of the new Ivor Williams tipping trailers? From what I can see there are 3 models TT 2515/3017/3621. Don't want trailer to long as there are some awkward drives and gateways out there! Would like the trailer to hold a max capacity of 4 cubic meters with a divider in the middle! (two 2 cubic meter loads). How does the tipping mechanism work? Does it have a separate battery (how long does it last? any good?) or run off 4x4?It will be towed by a landy defender 90. Are the mesh sides strong and durable? the logs will be dropped out of a crate via a box rotator at quite a height so logs are likely to hit sides... are they up to it? As you can tell a bit of a novice with these trailers! Thanks for all your thoughts and answers!
  5. Any firewood machinery at the show guys...
  6. there are 2 secondhand 1x37's at Davies Implements Look no further for agricultural, forestry and firewood equipment & machinery
  7. Thats a tidy setup you have there Eddie! I was looking at an 8 tonne excavator but went for a 6 tonner mainly due to price and it could fit onto my multi purpose trailer. Who sells those grabs looks neat... Guessing the wide tracks are alot more stable and good in wet areas! 13 tonne machine be too big in woodlands where as 8 tonne machine more nimble... Here's mine Doosan DX60R With JPM multi purpose trailer bought from Jack @ Mason Bros.
  8. Try Wayne Thompson he's got seasoned hardwood for sale sells by the cubic meter 07974976625

  13. thanks for the reply log-buster! I was recommended the 870 model not sure if that was the LMS or Westech make, 87cm opening with 26 ton of force! Is the wood buster fixed directly to your excavator or do you use a link and rotator where by the log buster hangs...(If you get me!)
  14. Have been thinking for a while now about machine attachments breaking down big timber in order to get through the processor. Got a Doosan DX60R (6t mini excavator machine) and been looking at the LMS/Westech wood-buster. Wanted to know if any of you had seen or used one... They seem more positive than the cone type splitter! M Large are the distributors have a look at the link... feedback appreciated. cheers guys! MLargeLtd's Channel - YouTube
  15. Anybody have any idea what the screw splitters on the end of a mini digger are like? Was told that they follow the grain unlike a splitter which will split straight and be tidy! any thoughts......
  16. tothby1, You not getting on that well with your cone splitter on your digger? In a debate whether to go for one or get a pto splitter! The Posch 30t looks a mean bit of kit! cheers james
  17. Hi all, I've got a 6ton excavator and been looking into the LASCO cone splitters that can be used on them. Alpine Tractors sell them and just seeing if any of you guys have one.... and what are the pro's and cons.... They seem quite expensive and not sure how they would cope on some tough oak or beech! Seen a video on them but its on small stuff which could go through a processor anyway! Would be looking to split some big trunks with it 30 inch plus... would save a lot of ringing up with chainsaws!!!! Any info would be great... Happy logging James
  18. www.philalderson.com His number is on there as I don't have it too hand! All the best
  19. Hi John, I'm based in Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire. I bought the machine from Davies Implements Carmarthen. £2,500 for the log deck which I got from Phil Alderson he has baed in Shropshire. He is also a Hakki Pilke dealer and has a 1x42 and does alot of firewood processing himself. Maybe closer to you and he knows the machines inside out! cheers james
  20. Hi Stan, I upgraded from a 1x37 to a 1x42 and what a difference! Twice the machine you wouldn't want to go back!!! Hydraulic controls are great and so easy, good ram power with a back up ram kicking in and the elevator can slew from side to side! Just ordered a Hakki log deck its a woodran 422 which will make life alot easier... seen them working and are very efficient. Hope this helps james
  21. They hold there value well! I upgraded from a 1x37 to a 1x42! Had the 1x37 for three years processed alot of timer bought it for £6000 and part ex for £5000. Really pleased with my 1x42! Do you use a log deck with yours... if so which one...
