As long as it’s not dangerous, it will be ok for me.

the clutch cover that came with the saw was orange. My dad replaced it with a silver one from lse.

last time I buy second hand could have got a brand new one for less after all the replacements!

oh well you learn your lesson the hard way.

it will be a hot saw as no other reason to take the serial off.

ask Dad what was wrong with the original orange clutch cover?  I wonder if it's actually a husky 350 as the 353 has a purge primer bulb fitted as standard.  There is anudder way to find out the serial number,  there is usually a white adhesive  sticker with the serial number stuck to either the fuel tank or the bottom of the crankcase  (basically it is somewhere between the fuel tank and the crankcase),  this i have discovered on a few 357xp's and 346xp's over the years although it may have come unstuck (bit like yerself....) and long since disappeared.

The VIN plate has been gouged out hence the scratch mark on the paint. It's most likely a Stolen saw or stolen recovered saw.

Hi so at the Estate I look after the boss has baught a new saw a Husky 445 nice saw except it keeps throwing the chain off, even like the second time I used it, I did notice the bar has a tiny bend in it if its on the bench flat you can just notice it but after all these years working with saws I don't think it's this that's causing the trouble as always keen to hear your thoughts
    Thanks Mark

Has it got the tool less tensioner? My 450e has a habit of throwing chains unless you keep checking tension especially on new chains which will stretch anyway.

ya i hate those tool-less  tensioners too, i think  you can retrofit the traditional side cover. those 450E's are a great saw in my experience.

    Cheers @5 shires

Im leaning heavily towards the Echo, I'll ask my local dealer if he'll get in both petrol and battery for me to try (They let us take away and test Echo products before, pre purchase)

That'd be very interesting @gand The 160T doesnt appeal to me, as i have a preconception its massive in comparison to the 151T and 2511, It'd be nice to be able to confirm my thought

i agree wit yew lad as i reckon the 161 is the fat girl compared to the 151 and 2511.

    Apologies I am confused.

does that mean the the top cover is hiding the primer bulb as it’s got no hole for it?

the de comp button is on the side

if ya look behind the aluminium handle that is circled in your pic. you will see the black VIN plate,  try and take a pic of it and post it up here as that will tell us the model and year of manufacture.

Did ya fold the alloy yerself or did ya buy it like that?

No i had JBL fold it for me and make the toolbox.

so it's single skinned and the folding process engineers in some rigidity and strength?   Looks very tidy.

  7. Dilz, i use a TCF arb trolley and i bought a smaller than usual dumpy bag from Tool Station which has a safe working load of 500KG but fits on perfectly.  Not sure of the actual dimensions of the bag itself but it's spot on and i too am having hooks fabbed up so as to make attaching and detaching the bag a doddle. we use it on long conifer hedge trimming jobs where we trim onto a line of 8x4 tarps and then pick each one up and tip them into the dumpy bag on the arb trolley,  once full we drag it to the truck or chipper.

  8. Wednesday, Fursday n' Fryday was too hot for fat ole me here in Devon. I felt rough afterwards but on fri. we opted to do 2 jobs instead of 3 as there's no pint in stressing yourselves out on a hot day so we finished early and ate homemade cheesecake.

And today I's repairing the backpack blower shoulder strap that failed. Using some webbing off of an old harness that was hung up and not dumped for some reason.

@gand any chance of some pics of the 2511 and 2500 side by side?

if yer on Facebook lad i did a review last week or so on the 2500.  I will say that if i only had the money to buy 1 'micro saw' it would be the 2511 over the 2500 as they have more balls and really astound me with their abilities.

i have fitted an 8'' chain n' bar to the 2500.

I hear you Khriss and if it was an import I wouldn't give it a second look. Bottom line is its British and if some of the constructive criticism is taken on board the breed will improve.

    Bob

can ya tell us more or is it under wraps till testing is over and it enters mainstream dealer outlets?

Well, not strictly broken but certainly caused some grief. Our local Stumpbusters man (Chris Gregory, great bloke) called on me for rescue earlier this week. His Carlton 2.5 ton tracked grinder was on a side slope when the downhill track came off. It was at the bottom of a sloping lawn with only flimsy shrubs between it and a 3ft drop onto the lane beneath, and there was no way he could safely raise the side of the machine where it was to replace the track. We used my Series 3 Land Rover with PTO winch, with the vehicle linked to the Iveco tipper for an anchor. With Chris operating the track that was still on and the winch pulling on the other side we managed to drag the grinder along and uphill to level ground, where Chris then manage to get the track back on. I think that is the heaviest load the winch has pulled so far, and that was without using a pulley to double the pulling power. Pity I didn't take any pictures.

i do like a good adventure and that sounds like it was fun!

The blade design is no different to Jensen. The blades are exactly the same. Considering Jensen have been running the same design since I was probably born. It can’t be that bad of design.

Thing is people don’t realise is a Jensen/forst flywheel is heavy compared to the others and don’t use outside draft fins to get the throw. Plus then the blades are huge compared to the timberwolfs and GreenMech. So in theory the blade only needs to hit something it shouldn’t and can cause a lot of damage.

This is something I know as I had a Jensen throw it’s blade and cost me 2.5k to get it right.

well a local outfit i know of fitted Jensen Blades to a Forst and it went bang in a big way,  when this error was realised and admitted the repair bill was circa 5k.
