It has been said that I'm heavy handed but Its definitely all the saws fault and not mine and anybody who disagrees is wrong.... obviously I never ever got it stuck in a cut or pulled it out of said cut....honest guv

It is a known issue on some CS2511 TES saws.  I spoke at length to Echo UK about it.

They treated me fair and fixed it for me (read my long tale about it).  I can understand Hanz-on being pished off by it and buying a different brand.  In my case Echo fixed it and it's been fine ever since so it saved me a few hundred quid as i didn't need to buy another climbing saw.

In fact Echo looked after me extremely well when i had an issue with one of the early CS360 TES climbing saws and again with my 2511 even when it had run out of warranty and needed some work doing to it.

Last year i bought a second CS2511 TES as i found a brand new one still in it's box for a steal.  The Echo warranty is excellent in my experience and they have been good to me. in fairness to Hanz he admitted it was a knee jerk reaction to sell it on and buy a new stihl 151T.

Some of their kit i don't like (CS280 TES) so i buy a mixture of stihl, husky and echo to suit my needs. I am not loyal to any one brand.

ok cool was it an arse to actually get the cat out or relatively easy ?? yeah i haven't seen anyone post pics vids of one modded on hear or any where a timing advance make a big difference im keen to see if i can get one to be a 201t ripper

once i cud see the CAT i mangled it with a screwdriver and a pliers in order to make it smaller and get it out of the access hole i had made.

anyone got pics of muffler modded 362/360 they want to show and how much of a difference is it made as im going to get a 362tes soon

Basically i removed the silver coloured deflector from the exhaust and used a dremel to cut a 'U' shaped access hole in order to remove the 'CAT',  i bent the steel upwards in order to access the innards, then all i had to do was to press / bend  the steel back into shape and screw the silver deflector over the top.  Spud tuned it up for me and it improved the overall performance of the saw.  I may have some pics. somewhere.  I would love a ported and muff modded 360T /362T.

It's a 9hp honda. I'm only planning to use it on right access jobs due to its small size and light weight.

i have one too,  it's the 13hp version and i bought it cheap 2 /3 years ago.  It uses the quadra blade system but apparently can be converted to run on a different cutter head and teeth setup but i have not looked into it. They are ole skool and use the hand brake to allow you to sweep across the stump which can be tiresome compared to a turntable version which is easier. Toro are still marketing it.

    This popped up.

The echo 2511 has made serious inroads into the top handle saw market, but apart from that has anything changed?

    I don’t think so.

how ya Demps,   the 2511 has changed a wee bit in terms of a different coil and possibly a different variant of the carb. but apart from that i'm not sure what else may have changed.  They are now part of the 'X Series' line up of Echo saws (what ever that means!).  I run 2 now,  one on an 8'' and one on a 10".  I would love to try the new Echo battery powered climbing saw that is due out soon.  The 360 TES has had some changes to the cylinder apparently but looks unchanged apart from that.  Ya lookin' to spend some Francs?

It’s always mystified me why you obsess over fuel consumption for your machines.

Bung another €10 on the job, or stack and chip at the end like the real tightarses do :)

agreed,  my Quadchip is amazingly frugal but i couldn't care less really.  My previous chipper could drink £35-£40 worth of petrol on a very busy day but it didn't faze me as long as it was reliable.  I'd prefer a diesel chipper that drank a bit more 'motion lotion' but was a savage bit of machinery at snapping gnarly forked branches and gobbling dense conifer limbs without choking up.

the second i read of Wayne mentioning the fuel pump i thought of Ty in French France.  Julian from Greenmech rang me this week for a courtesy chat regarding my chipper too.  Good service and comms all round.

I know that, I refurbed my points on my 1-40 and timed it and think the flywheel was marked but it was a long time ago but I have had the bugger running and the whole village knew about it. As you say, pulling the flywheel isn't an easy job without the correct tools so a Nova unit or similar may be the way forward.

Never got my 595 going, it fires but has a stupid amount of compression and weighs a ton, 15 pulls and you are through. Perhaps now is the time to get it going! 100cc of vintage muscle!

if ya do start it and pish the neighbours off then please capture it on video!    It'll remind me of the time @wisecobandit fired up an 090 outside Radmore & Tucker when they were located in the middle of town, he was making a right ole racket and my ears were quivering as the noise and shock waves assaulted them.  The staff were not amused...

Just taken the diesel filter off, this is what came out of it. Guess what, nowhere open to get a new filter until tomorrow.

  10. Me n' She are out doing a small emergency call out this morning, pricing at lunchtime and then a small reduction in the afternoon. Easy enough for us to keep clear of customers and get the job done with little or no interruption. I only intend on doing some work with my Wife as 'Groundess' as the lads are all self isolating and keeping clear of social contact.

  11. a mate of mine works in engineering and is at home self isolating,  we were ribbing him recently to see if he was gonna go back to 'exotic dancing' (male stripper in a dance troupe) like he did in the 1990's. According to his Wife he's hung loike an Aintree favourite and when he does 'the helicopter' it's usually detrimental to the the lamp shade and axminsters finest. ?

I bought this Disco 1 300tdi a few months ago for £1500 with full MOT, chassis is spotless and only a bit of rust in boot floor (can buy replacement panels). I bought it to cover my defender whilst it was going to be rebuilt on Galv chassis, but you know what the defender had been sat still for 2 months now. The disco is just an absolute beaut, it’s the perfect balance of comfort and refinement vs old school basic mechanics, thouroughly reccomend if you can find a tidy example of one. £260 tax a year, can tow 3.5t, doesn’t feel big. Just love it.

sensible price, sensible buy. prolly better than a Defender too.

After reading this I thought I'd give it a go on my 501.

    Gauze is off.

Is this bit necessary, or can it be removed too?

    Cheers

ya i removed the spark arresting gauze and trimmed up some of the gaskets that were a bit oversized to aid gas flow.  I too considered removing that T piece but i left it in situ.  I will have mine tacho'd at the dealer and see how it performs then.  Great wee saw just a bit 'flat' compared to the other offerings on the market.

Perfect I think I’ll go for that then will be a while before it’s ported I think especially with all this virus stuff glad you told me about that though will definitely make a difference on the bigger stuff! I’ve noticed that there are two 2511s ECHO CS-2511TES and ECHO CS-2511TES-C guessing the C is some sort of electronic start or something?

501 sounds good that’s what I’ll probably go for I think the electronics now a days are the reason most saws screw up

i believe the TES-C version comes with the tiny cutting gear ie; 0.43 chain and bar where as the TES comes with the chunkier chain and bar which in my experience is not as nice to use and is more lightly to cause the saw to bog down in the cut.
