  2. cheers guys. yeah i've got the idea now, was just abit stuck thinking about the waight and size, but yeah i see it all now. thats what i like about this forum, everyones so helpful and find several diffrent ways around problems. i also posted the question to firsttunnels in the uk, expecting maybe an e-mail in a day or 2, but they phones me back and connected me with their construction team to talk it over. thought that really good of them. cheers all
  3. so you'r saying to open out the plastic totaly down one side and pull it over side-ways. yeah that sounds like it will work. with smaller one's we have walked it over from the end with a guy on each side, but this is to big for that. i dont know if the rope idea will work, what will support the rope? it would try to pull the plastic into the hoops side not up and over.
  4. hi all i've been asked by a good cliant to help with putting up a big polytunnel. i have helped with smaller one's befor. the leveling and putting the hoops in is no problem, neither is fixing the plastic.... my question is how do we get the plastic over the hoops? the tunnel will be 24' x 90' long so its big and the plastic will be very heavy. any advice welcome please
  5. thank you. thats a brilliant start
  6. hi all is there anyone on here that knows anything about or a good website with info on growing shiitake and enoki mushrooms. i have a cliant that is interested in growing them and has asked me as they grow on timber. he plans to buy impregnated dowls that need taping into frest logs to grow. what is the best conditions to keep the logs in, i'm thinking humide and out of sunlight, but do they need misting with water? wood the area need a shade cover and what temperature range is good? should they be grown in a dark polytunnel? is there a type of wood that is better? he has alot of oak/beech/silverbirch/willow. i know willow logs will start growing if he uses them and keeps them damp... any advise would be good please, this is new to me and i know there are a few very good fungi guys on here cheers
  7. looks very nice, but being a soft material for the scabbard, does it work well with a Sawpod?
  8. hi i agree with the first reply, i run a stihl ms361 with both a 16 and 20inch bar. its a great saw, mines done 5 years work and not had any problems with just basic maintainance.
  9. have a look at www.weebly.com i have built a small site that fills my needs with them, you build it yourself online, just drag and drop and upload your photos/type your text and its done, i built mine in an evening and it gets regular hits, its key word listed to be found on google too. you get the site totaly free if you have weebly in the address, as i have, but you can buy the address to to have it personalised. my site is www.jardins.weebly.com i've kept my site very simple just to give a basic outline and contact point, in 2 languages, but you can build them alot more complex, i also have a site that i use as a gallery for my hobby and its more complex, lots of pictures and text on multiple pages with gallerys and a contact page. i do find the contact form on my work site very good.
  10. to try it, is there anything needs doing to the machines, for example, i finish the tank of 'normal' fuel mix in my saw or strimmer and i can fill up with aspen, then after the trial, if i dont like it or it works out to expencive to source localy i can change directly back to 'normal' fuel mix with no problems or affects on the machines?
  11. i have a stihl fs400, gets almost daily use and is a real good machine. gets an hours work out of a tank of fuel and never lacking on power. its a little heavy but not when its hanging on the comfort harness. use it all day long with no trouble.
  12. hi all just wanted to say "hi" and say this forum is really useful and fun at the same time. i've been reading it for a while finaly decided i really needed to join. i've worked gardens for years and just last year moved up (excuse the pun) to tree work. Bretonboy's got alot to answer for.... he introduced me into it, first as a groundy and now i'm starting to climb too. really loving it. the bulk of my work is still mowing and garden tidying though at the moment.
