  8. Sadly the crane wouldn't manage, we needed some help from a telehandler. Will post more pics of the job in next week or so!
  9. ]73115[/ATTACH] I hoped that our new trailer would take more than one log!
  10. We have just got a grab to put on a 7 tonne 360.......also from Wilsons, it will be great when we have fitted it!
  11. Pm me if interested, we are also based in Dorset and have lots of felling work.
  12. Its not the same job, the other job is for people with little experience, this is commercial felling on a price. I have had some PM's, I will reply to them tomorrow. Onwards and upwards Martyn!
  13. We are currently involved in a felling job in Mid Dorset and could do with a couple of extra cutters. It is a lovely job felling Lawsons, Douglas and Hemlock and leaving oak and hazel. Please PM me if you are interested.
  14. We have a similar need.....some work in Kent, some Oxfordshire and some Berkshire. PM me for more info if you are interested.
  15. Will require CSCS. PM me for further details and rates of pay etc.
  16. We bought a CAT scanner.......then we found out that you need a certificate to operate it. I was questioned on a utilities site and was found to be 'an enthusiastic amateur!'
  17. Does anyone use a CAT scanner to avoid cables when stump grinding?
  18. Great pics, it pays not to forget your camera
  19. We are in Dorset so no good....sorry. My best advice would be to email all the tree surgeons in the area where you are prepared to travel. Try and make sure you have transport that is suitable so you can be reliable. Very best of luck!
  20. Get well soon .........from all at KCM!
  21. Everything said above is totally correct. We always have problems finding straight fairly knot free wood. Macrocarpa very often has included bark and big knots which doesn't help the final product. Macrocarpa timber is very naturally durable (far more durable than most softwood treated with modern preservatives. The shape of some of the uncut timber lengths sometimes make for great semi rustic tables, chairs etc. Don't log it if it is any good!
  22. The joy of botanical names is that they are entirely optional if you wish. If you need to check one you can look on the net or in a book.
  23. We used to used CDA 'Herbi's in the early 90's, in the end we went back to knapsacks. If you read the previous posts you will detect a pattern! Bracken spraying is about the most physically demanding chemical weed control you can do but when you come back next year and see it almost all gone it will be well worth it.
