  1. the climber has considered undoing his chin strap but his h+s supervisor told him that while on the ground he should only wear a helmet conforming to en 397
  2. i forgot to say that the ground crew have been dragging through 2 gardens, over a stream, up an alley way, and then finally across a field (all the options were explored but this was the best access they could get)
  3. There is a 4 man team on a hot day , they are busy reducing a medium sized tree which will take up their afternoon. The climbers is busy up the tree and he is wearing a helmet conforming to bsen12492 and type c trousers conforming to bsen381-5. Anyway, he finishes the reduction and descends from the tree and onto the floor. The appointed team leader asks the climber to help drag the remainder of the brash, should the climber, A. decline as he is hot and thirsty and needs a rest and a drink B. say no i'm a climber don't you know C. ask the team leader why the ground crew couldn't keep up (am i working too fast?) D. say i'm happy to help but should i first change my helmet to one conforming to en 397 as mine has a chin strap which will not break if it gets caught in brash and i could get dragged through the chipper. Also, i'm very hot in these type c trousers so can i first change into a pair of type a's? Finally, before i forget, if D is the correct answer, and all four team members are climbers and alternate climbing/ground work on each job, does this mean that they nead to carry 8 helmets and 8 pairs of trousers??????
  4. the benifits are that you get to charge more money cause you recomend its done every 3 - 5 years, and then after 15 years you cut it down, grind the stump and replant, then it starts all over again:thumbup:
  5. gutted, makes you feel sick:thumbdown:
  6. We have been using a ms201 for bout 6 months now and nobody in the firm likes it and general concensus is that 200 is better, so Father has decided to stockpile a few new 200's, think 20 might have been a bit excessive though:lol:
  7. course it could, id jump out of any of our mewps at full reach if they were propaly set up
  8. Stick with ur prussic, I tried a spider jack and a lock jack but couldn't get on with either, old school rules, long live the prussic!
  9. Really hench but slightly simple groundie slams van door on it
  10. Dadio hasn't answered any posts for a while, and i find myself genuinly concerned as to his safety (and those he may be influencing), having watched several of his videos i have been shocked and horrified by some of his "techniques" and particularly concerned about the fact that he posts his facebook videos as "training", This is not a personal attack, however i do feel that homeowners and inexperienced arbs may put themselves in danger by following the advice he is giving. In his vids i have seen uncontrolled felling, lack of PPE, blunt chainsaws, left-handed chainsaw operation, and general incompetance and ignorance. As I said this is nothing personal, just a heartfelt plea from a concerned individual.
  11. Out of interest Dadio, how long did the job take from start to finish?
  12. Get the fattest guy you have to walk carefully up the but, failing this fell the tree it's resting on
  13. Sorry video not bid stupid I phone predictive text
  14. In the time it took to watch the bid I could have got up it and chogged it down, nice bid though, and fit customer too!
  15. possibly, but these days you have to cover your back, if a limb comes down on that footpath and kills a child, who's gonna get taken to court??????
  16. we analyzed it from the picker, it has shed at least 1 big limb in the past and the limb that came down had damaged several other limbs which i didnt photo, also it is directly over a footpath, hence the heavy reduction, we had permission to do 40%, but we didnt go that hard, id say it was more like 25-30, i forgot to take pics of it finished, will try to get some today
  17. done this today, it shed the bough yesterday and after an emergency meeting with tree officer we got permission to do a 40% weight reduction, another day in the office:001_smile:
  18. thanks for the positive comments Janey the H&S stuff is a nightmare but fortunately my brother deals with all that
