  1. I’m sure the foresters here have heard of the heath land regeneration scheme which involves removing all the brash, timber and stumps from site. I’ve got no issues with moving the timber and brash but my problems arise when I have to remove the stumps. I could hire in a 12 ton 360 excavator with a grab to remove them. But, what can be done with them now as we can’t have any fire .So, I’m at a bit of a stumbling block for the moment as what to do with them. Any advice or potential contacts would be very gratefully received. It’s a 5 acre site and consists of 40 year old Scots Pine.

  15. Hi all I was wondering if any of you could help me or some advice. I’ve been managing woodlands for the last 4 years I employ 1 feller and own a botex 360 which is pulled by a case 1056lx. I don’t charge for the work I do as I do it for the timber. However this is where my problem starts I received a phone call today from a large estate about 8 miles down the road today wanting me to fell (motor manual) and extract hard wood. I’m not too sure on the volume of timber I’m dealing with yet. But the project is expected to last 2 years. They are wanting to use the timber for the own heating and I’m not too sure on what to charge for the work weather it’s an hourly rate? Day rate? Week? Month? Or tonnage? And also what to charge I have worked out what my weekly running costs are. But any advice you guys have would be much appreciated. Cheers Tom

I’ve got a land rover double cab tipper and I suffered from the same problem took it to my local land rover people (off road rovers) and they suggested some heavy duty blue bearmach springs buy some new helper springs, gas shocks and some new anti role bar bushes. I’ve got them on the back of mine and its made it rock solid but doesn’t shake your spine apart when its empty
