  2. c clips are fine as far as i can tell,no offence taken, its always good to have other opinions, the simple things are often overlooked, had similar problem with 266 many moons back,i think that was clutch springs, im gonna pull it apart tomorrow so ill let you know how i get on, thanks for the info
  3. yes c clip spring, chain tight, adjusted tick over, never had any problems setting saws up before,
  4. hmm, thanks mate, was working fine the last time i used it, so reckon gunged up internals might be the problem
  5. i got my 340 out of the shed today and fired her up, and the chain will not stop running on idle. ive adjusted the hi and lo screws properly 1 and 1 and a quarter but cannot get the chain to stop running. turned idle screw down to its lowest possible setting without the saw stalling. Any ideas, i can do my all my other equipment ok but this 340 has got me, thought id ask on here before i take it to the shop cheers mike

  10. yeah , used my mates 170 for cutting sleepers etc, no probs, ate through them, think this saw could be a duffy one, dont want to mess with it incase it has to go back to dealer and messes warrenty up
  11. think i might tho lol
  12. first cut into new sleeper and it died, so chain is sharp?? these are not old sleepers, they are new softwood 2.4x125x200 mm sleepers for retaining walls etc, so no crap in them!?
  13. no new sleepers, chain tension is fine, 2010 stamped on chain brake handle so not old stock!

  22. Had some problems with the drive on my 48 pro, so thought i would have a go at fixing it myself, looked a bit daunting to start with but i took the whole drive assembly and front wheels off and found the chain case had a whole in it, which has let loads of grass, muck and stuff in, cleaned it all up, repaired the case and refitted it , jobs a good un,worth having a go yourself i think, repair shop would of charged a fair bit for that i reckon, cost me 2 pop rivets and some araldite, although chain case is only about 12 quid but labour would have been a oner i expect, cheers mike
  23. cool, very nice, yeah definately include landline:thumbup1:
