  1. Just thinking is it just me or does the england flag look like a symbol for chavs drunks and thugs lol
  2. If it earns money then your doing something right if it dont redesign.
  3. Im on the verge of buying a 3litre iveco tipper. can any one tell me the good and bad points of these trucks how much legally can they carry are they reliable expensive to repair. Would really appreciate the input thanks:thumbup:
  4. Can any one reccommend the best pov helmet cam for arb work
  5. Cheers mate appreiciate the input, yeah essex does get a decent price depending on where in essex lol. I thought another company might put 2995 plus vat which would have made me slightly better but i guess some one could have come in at 2 just i would make sod all at 2 grand maybe 200 a day no way for the amount of work involved. And if things didnt do to plan all you would hear is the musical tree surgeon all day haha:cussing:
  6. Do you charge vat just wondering. so with that would be 2350 all in vat tax the lot ?? sounds like a very good price
  7. Unfortunatly it was tight accsess so pedestrian grinder pain but no other way from any point. Its a learning curve but id rather loose the job than get half way and think bugger im gonna loose money. cest la vie lol. I tried to work out the best most cost effective way ie men per day etc. I just thought its gonna be such a bull busting job lugging 6ft rings of oak down a garden all day If you put 2 grand on for three days does that include vat and -20% tax ??>
  8. One for one side the other for the other side its a big tree and two climber wont bump into each other so both with lowering devices but up seperate trunks of the same tree. Both get the branch sections down within two days leaving as much time on the third for section felling the larger limbs and grinding out the stump which is big. I dont like working costs to the bone i try to allow for things taking longer then expected and this has paid off very well for 90% of the bigger jobs. So if we do it earlier we all get a little bonus for working hard .
  9. Thought i already said was an oak got no pics anymore was a while back, I just worked out from cutting to clearing up it was a three day hard graft job. So i priced for three days and allowed room for creeping into a 4th. whats the cheapest you will work for three days when your doing a min of 10 loads possible up to 15 at worst. ?
  10. Its hard to explain the exact size it may be much larger than i think but by eye sight i worked out how long it would take to cut and lower each part of the tree and worked out with breaks and the reality of how quick the hours tick by. Also two climber split the work load less chance of exhuasting them. this is a very big tree please dont take my 70ft estimate as exact if i got a ruler out it may be alot bigger its a huge great tree hundreds of years old. Dont forget men wear out within the first few hours of hard graft so it wont be steam in for 2 days and get it done there is no way any firm would have this down in 2 days ive worked for some of the biggest firms in my area with bigger equiptment. This job had to be hand balled to the road from 100ft were talking big limbs rings etc. The stump will take 1-3 hours at least its massive by the time you get under the surface your looking at 7ft across to be ground 1ft under the mud. I think any company would need 3 days min. You cant get big toys up near the tree tight accsess so all wheel barrows and bulls aches:laugh1:
  11. Two climbers for productivity 1 climber would prob need 3 days just to get it all down i need to have it down and ground out with all arisings removed in three days i would prob run into a 4th with only 1 in the tree. I meant 2 climbers for the first two days to get the bulk done then just me a 3 groundys for the last day blocking the trunk grinding the stump?. Also i have to run loads so i cant be in the tree non stop hence two. Believe me this was a beast. If you charged 2grand what profit margin if any would you expect to make. You can put lots of men on a job do it in less time cost more in labour or less men more time cost in time ??.
  12. priced a 70-80ft tall 40ft wide tree massive huge great limbs overhanging fences sheds green house and garage also close to house. All needs lowering and tree looks to weight aprox 20 ton i worked out 10-15 truck loads transit loads 1.2 ton. And the trunk is about min 6ft across also have to grind the stump which is gonna be a turd of a job. I worked out maybe 3 days at worst an extra half day at worst on top, how much would you have priced. what would you honestly price i thought at least three grand might be where i went wrong but so much could have gone wrong needed alot of work to prep the site and alot of the price was cost plus its an insurance job so all through the books etc. never herd back so assume its been done i thought 2 climbers 3 groundsmen and me 2 climbers for 2 days 3 groundsmen and me all 3 days Alot of big heavy log which would be hard work for the guys to carry out.
  13. Yeah he is paying for it i made him put his name down to bt so they bill him lol. Just could not believe it even when i said exactly what to do, oh and he cut the spliced eye off my rope so i made him pay for that to i Just thought id share
  14. A subbie climber of mine broke three bt lines with one branch undeniable negligence on their part. They felled a tree which i specifically told take it down in two as it was to close to the lines i went to tip off and they tried to fell it in one. Am i right to make them foot the bill ?
  15. Just looking at getting one of these got the transit crewcab and it carrys ok. are the ivecos reliable do they have a dmf are they expensive to insure are parts hard to get and or expensive How do they really compare to transits for build quality engine reliability really interested as looking at an 2006/7 with 50000 miles on it.
  16. how much for the box pm me also saw condition etc
  17. Well just ordered one you never know till you try so ill post my findings. I have about 25 sets of lightly to medium blunt teeth so ill see how many sets can be sharpened to a decent amount. oh an paid £55 plus vat so ill weigh up cost vs buying new teeth ?.
  18. :confused1:The worked on my chipper about week and half ago mike was having his hand fixed up steve was standing in for him. So they was recently ??
  19. Does any one have and experience using a diamond cutting wheel or similar tool for sharpening blunt finger teeth ???>
  20. Well been having one of the regular days rushing around then my tom tom decides to act like its lost so me being a tit gave it some encouragement and in the process managed to break my tom tom and my windscreen, a light tap huh lol. Well minus about £350 not good but the new tom tom with live traffic is brillaint it actually works very impressed. Just thought id share one of my classic moments mock as you please i already feel abit brash lol:blushing:
  21. Got the same engine 9 years old i used it non stop for 2.5 years with no problems except a worn key starter. Could be electrics worn wire. its easy to check a naff one compression check carb and gaskets kohler are good but not as good as honda. you never know what the previous owner did lack of oil or maintenence will kill any engine
  22. I know this is so obvious but checked the hydro oil level. could be to many things if the hydro pump is wrecked could be leaking which you would know. Again could be the electrickery which i have no clue i pay s:confused1:omeone else for them head aches get enough cutting trees. I would check everything you know make sure al is ok then process of elimination
  23. It depends on who else is on there and how many people do use there site i must admit i do see the touch site come up alot so it could work if there were few companies on it
  24. If there are no more trees ill buy a lawn mower and start on the grass lol. There will always be trees as we remove trees people plant trees. i hope the industry shrinks which it will by force. I already see many climbers groundsmen asking for work willing to work cheap as the work is so tight wont be long before they are forced into new lines of work. The balance of life applies to everything We will hit saturations then decline then all over again. I must say my council are brilliant they have planted trees on every piece of grass within the whole borough kerching lol.
  25. whats up with it mate a new no stress should not go wrong should they ?
