1. So, I picked mine up this morning and have had a little play with it. First thing that got me was that despite it's size, it seems as solidly made as the older generation of Stihl's. It isn't plasticy and gimmicky, which is what I've thought of the other smaller, newer models, 180/181, 201, 261 etc. Despite it being intended for smaller diameter material, I've just wound it into some 10" knotty sycamore, and with a gentle touch, it zipped through no bother. The power is there when you want it and gone when you don't, unlike the 201t:sneaky2:. So all in all so far pretty chuffed. Monday it'll be out to work so I'll give it a proper road test. Anyone else got one yet? What do you think to it?
2. Nice one, you won't regret it. I run aspen in all my saws bar the 200t. It's well worth it if you're doing any milling or cutting in confined/less well ventilated areas Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
3.
I use a 5m with a hitch and pulley, negates the need for a cut away, with 5m you can cut the hitch and pull slack, plus i've been on a lot of poles that 3m isn't big enough! I don't much like soft links as it defeats the object of a wirecore. I haven't heard good things about wirecore and art positioners, but i don't know much about the cinch.

7. Both. I've always got a wee plastic one in my pocket, combine plastic and hi lifts for felling depending on weighting/kerf size Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
8. Thought we'd ruined the thread there for a minute. What are the the chances that'll work though Stephen? If you did that round here there'd be big trouble... Got any trees you'd recommend? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

18. So the problem lies with rotation on a couple of them, keeps coming up as read only but the others are fine. Here are a couple, you'll just have to turn your head:001_tongue: The others have corrupted files but I can see them on my phone and pc, just can't save them on the pc:confused1: Look carefully in pic 4 and you can make out Adam in the sweet chestnut

22. Minibus for southern arbs?
23. If you use it with a rw, its reputed to reduce the wear by half. Though that for me, would defeat the object. I love the rw with a hitch or lj, but I love the uni on it's own. You'll have to have a play on some limby trees to see what it's like in the canopy as well as ascending
24. You lucky boy! My gransfors thrower is a thing of beauty. You still braving the cold out there mate? Hope it's all going well for you
