  1. Think you could try Southern Lakes, seems like a good company. I reluctantly passed up an opportunity to work in Queenstown when I was studying. Too busy keeping on the good side of the Mrs Certainly a fantastic place to be working!
  2. We might be cheap, but s@#t we're rough!! Tree topping wise guys!!!
  3. Glad to hear your alright, bet your ground crew were fairly startled to see you descend so quickly. Hope the healing happens fast and your back in the harness soon!
  4. Cheers Tom, yeah that Poplar is looking fairly dodgy. Think I might take off the lower limb then bomb the rest. Look forward to hearing from you!
  5. The bees dont like the stump grinder too much either -have made a couple of hasty retreats after hearing the roar of upset bees over the sound of the Dosco!
  6. love the pics, always a shame to see large trees like this suffering in old age.

heres some pics of the snow man my partner and I made last week
  8. Glad to hear your all right fulla, we called an exterminator in on a job removing a group of toitoi bushes in nz -two days afterwards we went round and set about slicing through the bush, picked up a load and as carrying it to the truck the bush started bitiing. obviously he didn't get them all as we found out:thumbdown: Lucky neither of us were overly allergic.
  9. Hi guys I'm looking for work in Edinburgh. Anything available for qualified climber from NZ with five year working visa? Have been climbing for 2 years, studied cert arb L4 2007. Cheers, David.
  10. Nothing wrong with spud guns -until you get into firing grapefruit with acetylene as the propellant -oops! Wasn't us officer, honest!
  11. I lost the wire from my first caritool on the first tree I climbed with it in place. watched it fall off and dissapear under a pile of willow. I have had some webbing attached to my harness and clip my snap biner into it then use oval mallion to attach saw -works for me! I find the caritools are great to run the tail end of your rope through when spiking up trees as you can keep the rope away from the stem thus reducing the likelyhood of you spiking your rope.
  12. :blushing:Haha it's not the Shore at all:blushing: Looks like a great spot though!
  13. Cool pics, What part of the Shore were you on? I lived in Castor Bay for a while. Did you guys destroy those nuisance tree-climbing vermin? I'm not pro 1080 I just want possums eradicated from NZ -there are other means!!!!
  14. Thats rough, poor kids getting shafted for doin what comes naturally. We set one about 10 metres up between some massive gums had to climb up dodgy rope ladder then unlock the bolt to get in. Still would of been a cool job smashing it to pieces!
  15. :001_tongue:Ouch! Just a query -If I studied at Otago Polytechnic (Dunedin) NZ and recieved a Certificate Arb Level 4 in 2007 would this even be relevant here in the U.K or is the system so mismanaged that none of my training is worth the paper it's written on?

  18. Hey there I have just moved over here from NZ. I worked for a company called Willco which is a smaller company based in Wellington but get a lot of great work. Not sure if they are looking for anybody but never hurts to contact them. Good luck with your search.
  19. I like to cut all pegs off then if I need to tie in again I just cut a wedge with saw and run rope through that. Works for me.
  20. Tool truck was damn handy, carry all the tools and equipment and 3 climbers squeezed in. Could bomb out a job then move to the next and leave the brush stacked for the chipper boys to tidy up. Saws and fuel one side with hand tools and signage on the other.
