  1. I would presume to try and stop white van man from driving for 23 hours in a day and only taking 45 minutes of breaks in that time.
  2. Not as much as we used to. The job was not far from his house, so him and Brian took the timber for firewood.
  3. Sycamore removal
  4. There are increasing numbers of hedges, that we have cut for years which are showing this type of damage. One year its immaculate, the next year some yellowing of the foliage and much less vigourous growth, the next year brown patches where the yellow was and the chlorosis spreading further along the hedge. A lot of them aren't recovering either. There was an article in The Garden about 18 months ago, saying that they were didn't know what was causing it -but that it wasn't aphids.
  5. I took an 020T to Australia in a holdall in the overhead locker, this was in '99 so before 911. No problems at either end, which looking back now is unbelievable really, especially getting on the plane with it at Heathrow. The Aussie Customs were more bothered that it had been 'sterilized' before bringing it into their country. I sold it over there, so never found out if I would have got it back home.
  6. You might get more response if you offer to let anyone who is working locally, tip their chip off where you need it. If that is possible.
  7. Good comment.
  8. Being able to tsunami all the sawdust, leaves, clippings etc down a stream / river that you are working next to.
  9. Thanks for that, very useful. I have a friend who is a consultant and he is going to give me some help with this one.
  10. Harrogate B.C. They had refused consent for the reduction, but the customer wanted to meet the tree officer with me to find out why the tree couldn't be reduced and what pruning they would allow to be done.
  11. I had a site meeting today with a tree officer, regarding an application to crown reduce by 20% and re-shape an ash tree. The tree is too large for the size of garden in which it stands and such a reduction would have made the tree a more suitable size for its location. The tree officer told me that their, the LPA, policy is not to allow any crown reductions of trees. I was wondering how common this type of arbitrary approach is amongst LPA's.
  12. Does anyone know when the new Husky top handled saw will be on sale?
  13. Full breakfast in the college refectory - £2.50:thumbup1:
  14. Is the six weeks prior notice you have to give the LPA, effective from the date they receive the notice? Or is it from the date on the notification form which you sign and send to them?
  15. Sycamore dismantle.
  16. Sycamore reduction.
  17. Horse Chestnut removal day 2.
  18. Horse Chestnut removal day 1.
  19. Meripilus giganteus. It was adjacent to a busy junction, so too much of a potential hazard to remain. It's a shame as it was a real landmark in the town.
  20. Beech removal day 2.
  21. Beech removal day 1.
  22. Big beech crown lift.
  23. ash & big pop for out
  24. Unless you used the rope an equal amount in the opposite wrap, you'd still have the twist in the rope or just twists in the in the opposite way. Also, I use a Hobbs which you can only wrap clockwise, so you can't wrap it the other way.
