Wingnut?

No worries. My only other advise would be to be conservative in your estimation of your skills to a possible employer and let them figure out where you are at. The work is very different to the uk in alot of ways. Watch some of Reg's videos, that will show you a good range of the work out here.

Yeh I found it pretty easy. I secured my first job from England. English climber's are generally well regarded and in demand in Vancouver. Do you have a work visa? If not, get one and a plane ticket and you will be fine.
-
Hi Ed, I currently live you here, although heading back to the UK soon. There are a few firms in Squamish, and 1 full time in Whistler. No tree work in Whistler from december to march though. There are tons of tree firms in vancouver though. The work is good, but almost exclusivly conifers. Good luck.

Cheers Adam, I'll be in touch.

I would do a bunch of slings and crabs, the wear on the line is minimal, than have some cheapo cord to pull them back, but you would only have to retrieve every 20 cuts. ( or however many slings you had). You can always sling multiple slings to 1 biner aswell. I buy tape off the reel and tie tape knots to make loops.

Thanks. This is an amazing place to live and work for sure. Silky I'm from Berwick, haven't lived there for quite a long time though. Will be contract climbing around the north east and borders, or anywhere interesting.
-
Thanks Silky. They will be the last BC tree pics for a while as my work visa has run out, so I will be heading home to the north east for a while. Hope to be back here next year ish.

Hey, I would like a price for the bone, posted to BC please?

Do you have a job organised yet atree?

I have a pair of SIP Progress type A's. They are 2 years old and still haven't even got a hole in them.
-
I have a Mazda B2500 in extra cab. Its the same as a ranger. You should easily get one under £4000.

Looks slick Reg! Do you fill it easily in a day by yourself? Plannig to visit the island soon, recommendations on places to visit?
Thanks Paddy.

I use a pair of stihl battery belt suspenders. Nice and wide, I attach them with 3 wire gate biners.

I place both above the block, once you have a piece hanging from the block you could feasibly damage your climb line through friction from the rigging line. Or the rigging line could pinch your climb line to the tree making any further movement impossible. Place the block low enough to ensure you aren't in danger of your tie ins coming off, but high enough so as to minimise the drop of the piece.

Yep, both of those are in the Whistler, BC area. The single tree pic is from the other side of the valley from the ski area, clearing a landing for private helicopters, the pic with 2 guys, I am in the right one, and my boss is in the left. I'm also waiting for my next visa atree.

Yep try the big companies if you need sponsorship. Or if you are certain you want to emigrate then get the process started yourself, with your experience and qualifications you should get in via the federal skilled trades program.
Paddy.

This! and a couple of x-rings.

Nice new truck Reg. Is it an auto though? I'd like to replace my Ram 1500 with a diesel.

Nice one Paddy,Get your visa sorted btw?
Thanks, haven't got a new one sorted yet, I missed out one the first round of the IEC by a couple of minutes. Hope to get in the next round. Cheers.

Isn't Silverstreak a different taper pattern, I seem to recall it being 20 strand?
