  1. No worries. My only other advise would be to be conservative in your estimation of your skills to a possible employer and let them figure out where you are at. The work is very different to the uk in alot of ways. Watch some of Reg's videos, that will show you a good range of the work out here.

  2. Yeh I found it pretty easy. I secured my first job from England. English climber's are generally well regarded and in demand in Vancouver. Do you have a work visa? If not, get one and a plane ticket and you will be fine.

  3. Hi Ed, I currently live you here, although heading back to the UK soon. There are a few firms in Squamish, and 1 full time in Whistler. No tree work in Whistler from december to march though. There are tons of tree firms in vancouver though. The work is good, but almost exclusivly conifers. Good luck.

  4. I would do a bunch of slings and crabs, the wear on the line is minimal, than have some cheapo cord to pull them back, but you would only have to retrieve every 20 cuts. ( or however many slings you had). You can always sling multiple slings to 1 biner aswell. I buy tape off the reel and tie tape knots to make loops.

  5. I place both above the block, once you have a piece hanging from the block you could feasibly damage your climb line through friction from the rigging line. Or the rigging line could pinch your climb line to the tree making any further movement impossible. Place the block low enough to ensure you aren't in danger of your tie ins coming off, but high enough so as to minimise the drop of the piece.

  6. Yep, both of those are in the Whistler, BC area. The single tree pic is from the other side of the valley from the ski area, clearing a landing for private helicopters, the pic with 2 guys, I am in the right one, and my boss is in the left. I'm also waiting for my next visa atree.
