  1. Amazing 2 people post the same video on the same day!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I enjoyed watching this video of a worker climbing a 1700+ foot tall tower which was referred to as a "guyed tower". (A free standing tower which has additional guyed supports). The H & S appealed to me!!!! Imagine getting to the top only to find you had the wrong size spanner!! Helmet camera footage is excellent http://www.liveleak.com/e/07b_1284580365
  3. Cannon Bars all the way!!! Used Oregon and Husky bars on my processor and it seemed to eat them almost on a weekly basis. Stepped up to a Cannon Bar and it has lasted me all year. Doesnt seem to flex like the others did and also with the steel being that much harder have had very very little wear. My only complaint is that they dont do a 15" Bar, I buy a 16" and pay a friend to modify it. Also I have had fantastic service from Tavistock Chainsaws ordering after 16.30 and still having 8.30 the next day delivery.
  4. Has anyone used these? Do they work? I am very interested in purchasing one to try but have not heard of anyone using them on tractors and big machinery. I have also heard that they can be too much for the battery and make the electrolyte boil. Would be very interested to hear anyones reports good or bad.
  5. Evening guys and gals. Just wondering which one is the "log Baron" really expected to see him with stetson made to measure suit (not boiler) and large hand made cigar!!!! Or was he not included as too busy checking the lumber futures on CBOT.
  6. Can somebody please tell me how many pieces of grass I will get in 1 conventional bale, D1000, Midi Hesston and Full hesston. Also how many bales to the tonne and how many tonnes to the cord: Also how quickly can I dry hay and how many nets can I get out of 1 tonne:confused1:
  7. Does anybody on this site pack kindling into carry packs or know of an individual or company that does? Ant information greatly received either through the forum or via a PM
  8. Have just purchased about 300 tonnes of Mixed Hardwood for firewood. In amongst the timber are some very large Trunks of the above timber. Someone has approached me to purchase them for Milling. Does anyone on this excellent forum have an idea as to value of the Trunks. They are too big to go through my processor and I was just going to cut them up and put them through a log splitter. Any ideas.
  9. Processing some firewood today and the guy that helps me noticed that several of the Bars that we processed were infested with large white grubs about 1" long 2.5cm and about 5mm in diameter there must have been upwards of 30 in one of the bars. Stupidly I did not get a photo as had left phone at home. They seemed to have "plugged" the hole behind them with sawdust. Anybody got any idea as to what they were? PS It was softwood they were in.

  11. Wish I did!!! Maybe they dont let access to there site without opening the home page. Just go to Financial Times and type rising energy costs it should be at the top of the page.
  12. Saw this article whilst looking at my share portflio. A very interesting article. PS My share portfolio is still worth a lot less than I paid for them!!! FT.com / UK - Rising energy costs fuel a return to heating residences with a fire
  13. He does do cornwall, most of my timber appears to come form there!!!!! Also I know he picks up timber for stakes down that way and takes to a company in Taunton.
  14. Yes they do have a wagon and drag!! The guy that hauls for them is called peter Hunt and he lives in Crediton, he is always pulling loads into me, great guy always on time and can put his load anywhere. Any problems pm me and I will give you his number.
  15. Whats the matter with a wagon and drag? He could either unload the trailer a distance from your yard and drive the lorry in or unload the lorry first and then tranship the trailer. I know they dont like doing this but at least it will mean that you have got timber to process.
  16. Did you obtain your bars in the UK? if yes who supplied them? As I have a sister in law in Melbourne and could ask her to get me 1. She is always interested in "BARS"
  17. Am based in North Devon (just by 100m) Am using MVF oil. It does not seem to run freely through the processor, just wondered if you can get a thinner oil whilst maintaining the anti fling properties. Where are you based Tommer 9/
  18. Good evening My processor keeps eating Guide Bars. (Yes there is plenty of oil getting to it) Are Cannon Bars worth the extra expenditure? Do they outlast conventional Guide Baars 3:1. Can certainly see that the build quality is far superior to Oregon, Husky etc. Have just got through my second bar!!! This season (Mind you has cut 300 Tonne +) Also does chain oil come in different viscocities? Does anybody know as any info would be greatly received.
  19. What profile of chain do people use on their firewood processors? Just a thought as have had a chain break today, wondered if a different profile to "Chisel" would work any better? I am mainly cutting softwood with a small amount of beech. Any thoughts advice or input would be greatly received.
  20. I have about 40 Tonnes of Poplar for sale. It has been cut for about 18 months. Is anybody interested in all of it. Please le me know.
  21. Can you give me a price for 3 x 3/8 chain 57 drive links posted to Somerset.

  22. Thanks guys I was sure that was the way it worked but just wanted some clarification. My customer has stipulated that all bags must be above a certain weight and just wanted to make sure that I put enough wood into the nets. Thanks again for your help.
