  1. My subbie bought a 53 plate when it was about 7 years old with 24,000 miles mint condition. Luckily it had mitsubishi used warranty as the engine let go and took out the flywheel clutch and gearbox. 5k to repair when it came back nasty noises from clutch area and 3 months later the engine ecu went. This is only my opinion but when I bought a new double cab I tried a few and the L200 was bottom of my list as it felt 20 years behind the rest even the mazda was better and it was a third cheaper. I bought a navarra but should have spent the extra 3 k and bought the hilux which was ten times the quality.
  2. I would say 2250kg behind a pick up with no permanent 4x4 is enough. 3000kg is a bit much. I would pay through the nose for a good hilux but would avoid a l200 at all cost only a personal view based on experience and what I have heard. I hear a lot of horror stories about the ranger but not had one I would imagine the ranger tipper as a ready to go deal is a package which is hard to beat and it carries 1000kg which you will never get with the lux unless its alloy.
  3. Its fine with 800kg but not legal. Legally it carries 500kg. All single cab hiluxs only carry 700kg with tin tub but the extra cab carries at least 1100kg. Its the turbo diesel so about 23 mpg with mts on. Better fuel on d4d but alot more money to buy. I was going to run the chassis into the ground then move the new body onto a late mk 6 extracab. But 3/4 of the population around Andover are now doing logs so time for me to concentrate on other areas.
  4. You never know Jon might have a closing down sale. Still flat out on the kindling though  Got an order in the offing for 600,000 bags might need to buy and extra kindlett or two
  5. Yes proffessionally built with serial no for insurance company whole lot will be for sale soon. 5k + vat
  6. My garage warned me grease or oil your wheel nuts on your car if you must but dont do it on a truck whatever you do the nuts will undo. He has done my tyres for 20 years and never given me bad advice regards wheels and tyres.
  7. Had it about 4 years ago around my stomach. Nasty I think you are open to it if you get run down.
  8. Tipped loads of mixed hardwood logs. Cut and split to 10" approx 18 months ago. 1.5 cubic metres for £130 plenty in stock. Can deliver in the snow if it comes.
  9. £3000 a year is not bad considering some young kids pay that just to insure a 14 year old corsa. While the trucks parked up your not wearing the rubber off it. If everyone carries on treading water none of us will make money. Some jobs you just need to walk away from.
  10. If you think you are going to take the pee on the weight its got to be a defender hicap 3500kg gross tipper. If you are going to be legit I would go for the hilux extra cab and get a tipper body made. It has the best weight allowance of all the hilux range. With that d4d engine you may just get 30mpg on a run when empty. I have a hilux td with muds on and it gets 22mpg no matter what u do.
  11. Keeping the bottom vent closed also helps the airwash over the glass so it stays cleaner.
  12. LOL Jon on a bike I can guess what he will have in the camel back.
  13. I have one and its never oiled well mine is wide open. may pay to clean the pick up pipe and make sure no one has left bio in it for along time. The screw should stop when its wide open.
  14. I would love to clear it out trade but we paid so much for the cord there is nothing left in it. Even worse when you transport it to your yard you need to make a margin as well. Plan is if the weather goes hard up the prices and go out with a bang.
  15. 6 months gives them plenty of opportunity to go bust as well. During the credit crunch alot of my supplier accts were closed due to under use and no other reason. Opening them is a right form filling pain in the butt. But I have now done the same to our customers if you have an acct with us u are honoured if u abuse it your on pro former invoicing no matter how big an organisation u are. If you have a company that is taking the mick wait until they owe a small invoice then take them to small claims court the fees are really low on small amounts and large companies hate this action as it destroys their credit rating. I have a friend who regularly gets payments in cash by motorcycle couriers to avoid his court actions.
  16. I wish I was in your position. Still overrun with the stuff. All dry fully seasoned hardwood. I have spoken to a few other log sellers in our area and they are the same. Even tried advertising the stuff in free leaflets we know from experience works. I just want the room back but cant sell cheap as bought in cord. Hopefully a bit of snow will get their wheels spinning as our happy hilux flys past. I need the space for kindling and playing with my wood miser. Bring it on
  17. Borrow another one push your one up and out. Failing that do you have a relative with very small child.
  18. I have been known in my younger days to fill the trailer from the tip drive to the boot. home by 1 with £250 in my pocket to make the mortgage and feed the kids
  19. I have found the bbc 5 day on the net to often be accurate to the hr. Yet the bbc 10 day often says something completely different and is rarely right.
  20. Lighting towers are excellent value for money. Be careful if you try to do it again as most are not 12 wire machines and cant be reconnected ie if they are 110 volt machines thats your lot and visversa.
  21. The p6000s was very quiet if you need your set quieter than that you either need to spend some serious money or diy as you have said. Pramac is now not an option as they have gone bust.
  22. Ok for power cuts but not for living off grid. Badged as Hyundai but made in china by kipor or kama. We did import one container of these about 8 years ago never again
  23. After servicing generators for 25 years I still think there is only one set for this application. Lister 1500rpm flat top aircooled even 15 years old with standby hrs would be ok. Not a watercooled alpha whatever you do. Or possibly a new 1500 rpm watercooled Kubota.
  24. :biggrin:If you dont ask you dont get. My bags are 40x50cm and hold about 4-5kg Nice neat bags you can see them in my gallery. We have good stock this week but if it comes in cold next week we will be back to making to order. Have a go at making your own and stock some of ours and see how you go. If you get good sales but are too busy to keep making your own you can fall back to us. We are In Andover. drop in for a look, give us a bell to make sure someone is here. 07801 953338
