  1. Oh I'm so jealous !!! Really want a wood burner in my pad, but got a precast flue, trying to get some ideas an prices, got the wood ! Just no burner !

I don't normally do great big takedowns, I know my limits to what I can \ can't or will \ won't take on, I thought the idea of the forum was to seek advice, help or ideas.....I see I might be wrong. Also, I wanted the advice so I could make an informed decision on a request from a customer, rather than pass over the work, I would bring someone in to help......his was my 1st port of call. Thanks to those that have helped with there advice and points of view, it is very much appreciated

They couldn't give me a definitive answer to that when i asked them, there is a drain manhole cover about 2m from the base, so i asked them the obvious..........it wasn't a concern, in the end they just said the leaves will block the guttering...........they also want all the smaller trees and shrubs from around the border of the property out, it's a nice mature garden, so i asked them why, especially as it will show the nice concrete panel fence of to its most beautiful...........all out !!!............so i figured its not my argument !!

  14. Chipper access and drag zone fine, ALL shrubs and small trees to come out !!! its the drop zone that worries me, its about 6 feet from the house, and backs onto nieghbours back garden..........
  15. Hi all, Been out to look at a potential job today and i'd like some thoughts on it.... Its a large beech, situated inbetween two houses, 2 sheds directly underneath, multi stemmed, and reaching over onto roof zone. I wouldn't normally baulk at such a job, but its a little tricky with the situation and positioning. Ball park figures for takedown ? Is it a section down / rigging job or would you use a crane/plane or automobile ???:confused1 Photos enclosed...... Cheers, Mark
  16. I work mainly on my own, split between Landscape management, tree work and general garden maintenance. If i get a job that needs more than me, then i usually have a bank of people i can call on, although i am looking for a good climber as i'm kust getting to old an creaky for the big jobs , thats what a lifetime of working the land does to you Mark

  20. Thats beautiful mate, masur birch is excellent, i use it for knife handles when i'm not using native stuff...... makes nice kuksa's as well.... mark
  21. Ha ha i had a giant one in my front garden, seven stems, up until 2 weeks ago, it had died of from the top, but new growth coming from the base so i decided to give it the chop !!!! Cant say i could smell sick or vinegar, but that stuff got everywhere !!! wood normally gets in your boxers an stuff, but this got everywhere, an it was sharp an prickly as well..... mark

Move into the front bedroom and have an Airarms s410 ready for action I have a heavey duty shackle lock and extra hardened bike chain i thread around the steering wheel and click on the gearstick (thats not goin anywhere), inthe back, if i leave tools in, i chain everything together and cover with a dog guard..........its a pain in the mornings but if it makes the scum think twice its worth it !! mark
