  12. dismantled this oak for ian today, this was the way i saw things happening couple of near misses but didnt want to hide them show the good with the bad [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSIHSEqfbqY]YouTube - oak dismantle[/ame]
  13. that is actually a great video ian its weird seeing me cut them chunks off from that view looks gd though if i dont say so my self
  14. have always been into watching others work up a tree so i thought only fair to share how i do things also. i have tryed long gaffs cant get on with them at all. my short gaffs werent long enough kept not going through the bark and just slipping, smack them in a few times they stay in interesting point with who watches them though i find it makes me more disaplined to do things by the book which cant be a bad thing.
  15. im far from the quickest at rigging, im only 20 and have only 4 years climbing experience.
  16. its all good didnt take it negative at all interesting how different people tackle jobs different, good thing about this game everyone does it different. main reason i went at it on my own, can do things how you feel is right for each situation.
  17. just one groundy job took up till lunch with a breakfast break inbetween. didnt lower the lumps simply because was no need to with pull line they were always going to land where i wanted them and veg patch was done for by walking over it anyways.
  18. thanks. rigging it was simply down to being a very greasey tree wasnt 100% on holding onto alot of them and having some larger limbs to rig out so i thought as i spiked up rig them out as i went up, send down 3 branches at a time keeps him busy while im slinging up the next 3 and so on, then he had a nice pile of brash to chip while i was getting back up the tree after i had a break. had a day on it so use a day on it, no point taking risks and trying to save abit of time. just my thinking.
  19. thanks for the kind comments guys makes it worth while making them.
  20. job was dismantle this 22m alder had fence and green house and chicken coop and vegtable plants under it. in the end we sacrificed a couple of veg plants. shame its abit same old same old with the video but maybe someone will enjoy it [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gezzjx-jCbg]YouTube - alder dismantle.mpg[/ame] and yes alot of the video has been speeded up cause its pretty boring stuff
  21. nice little video there, well put together
  22. not if the said tree has a crown and wants to go the direction your felling it in, it falls when it falls, if your however used this method you would be able to make the cut move away, then pull it over when ready. like making a normal step cut up the tree make the cut, stays there, pull it snaps off throw it when ready. obviously there is like i said getting the knowlage of thickness of step and all that but if you had that i like it.
