Hi rob i had a chain on each side as reg told me but instead of dead level you have it slightly unlevel so you place the chains say like 8o clock and the other at 4o clock and start cutting from 6 0 clock till your all the way through at 12o clock if that makes sense. Thats what i got from reg if i remember right. You do it slightly off center so it tilts opening the cut in the direction your cutting but doesnt tilt the load alot unlike the single choker.

It certainly does help, its why i keep posting to aid my career i could do what alot of people do and just edit out things and say im great i like to keep things honest and real and try and help my bad habits

Cheers for the advice on the chains reg as that is the first proper time ive used them, i must prefer soft lifting straps they dont weigh more than me! I did weigh up a mini zipline and vertical zipline for the timber, but the area below the tree is alot more compact than it looks, also the client is very nervous with alot of things and as we had only 1 groundy due to being let down, he would soon have been swamped it was a slow and steady job.

Ian its 110ft your questioning simple maths when your standing 110ft away the angle to the top is 45degrees unless your going to question degrees its impossible to be wrong. As for the lowering i said earlier they dont let it run.

No real reason apart from on that there was just to much going on in a small area 4 ropes couldnt really get to the stem easily, plus i just have ocd about leaving a nice neat pole no rips and messy cuts

Worked on my laptop my parents computer and my iphone theres no music thats what usually stops it playing on certain things.

Cheers No didnt hurt my leg lucky for me! Even on a tall tree like that the groundies i use still dont seem to understand let it run! I cringed when i saw my hand to i dont notice in real life when i do it! I tryed to leave as few as possible when i took some off they would hit the stem and shoot off 1 nearly went through the window we didnt board up my heart was in my mouth. The other stubs were left low down for the crane to help the chains not slip off.

I got medal of honour for xmas played that for half hour last night when i got home ive got to say if you want realistic warfare thats best ive seen so far

So i couldnt wait till next week for my imac so yesterday i did a roughly edited version on my parents computer so heres a vid of it ill do a proper one with the imac next week see what fancy thing you can do on it.

Thanks. A few from the hotel them selfs, how tight it was getting the 25ton city crane only got it in cuz of the 4 way steering mm's to spare!

Cheers man, i try my best to do well. Only had 2-3 yrs playing cricket i played in the top leaque in norfolk when i had to pack it in i had the county team offering to send me to the oval in london again to try and sort my back out, cause i was a fast bowler it was just the stress of the action that would cripple me every week.

Haha yer its going ti be carved into a seat, i gave him the idea of a circular seat so hes going to ring a carver locally i told him about least it will remain in some form

Hi reg defo not unfit, ive had alot of troubles with my back it really messes me up to the point i struggle to walk after several different x-rays they have found i have a sideways curve in my back. Had to give up my cricket career because of it. But im only messing with the old thing really. Sticking to my prussik doesnt help ease things either on long accents.

I sure feel old reg Cheers again for taking the time to let me come over to manchester before you left to learn abit about craning its certainly given me the confidence to hire them in, the tips you gave me like setting the slings on timber having your climbing line on the crane to aid setting the chains in a big stem is a life saver for sure! I only wish every young lad had the chance to learn from you. Hope alls going well for you over there?

Cheers i just take on anything and everything theres always a way to do what needs doing! I do wonder sometimes i could probs buy a sports car and big house if i sold all my gear and packed up! Not that young anymore 22 now started at 16 if you want something do it make it happen all these people out if work need to make it happen for them selfs!

All of that 70ft stem weighed in at 9/10 tons so wasnt as heavy as id have thought but then it has been dead for nearly 6months and drys very quickly.

I didnt feel to bad up there but certainly wasnt the most comfortable ive been in a tree the first couple bits of timber i was lowering from 100ft!

Theres no set size to weight you just have to guess i always do small bits first to get the ball park figures the crane guy will tell me how much it weighed and you judge the rest its better to be over estimating the weight of the bits
