  2. I like the bit round 27-29mins where he kind of goes off on a tangent after a question about dynamic wind loads, basically saying that trees with small reductions where prone to higher wind loads on the stem as they didn't have as many flexible branches absorbing the dynamic forces:biggrin:
  3. If you've got a spare hour this is well worth a watch:thumbup: Frank Rinn Risk mitigation: Bananas, carrots and tree biomechanics. How to understand trees from their body language and measure on Vimeo

  18. I hope I do, but the trip is more about helping the people over there understand how important their trees are to them, and the interaction with the local villages in the community. A completely different way of life, and probably one that'll be a real shock to the system, in a good way:thumbup1: Sent from my Galaxy S2

  22. Opinions on this one... Large mature beech, lots of crown die back, riddled with ganoderma in most of the buttress roots, party of the back aside of the trees stem is "spongy" to 2m, within falling distance of a school boundary line and b&b car park but on the inside edge of mini woodland setting in a large park, daldinia, pluerotus, auricularia and possibly honey (not confirmed) present too. Sent from my Galaxy S2
  23. Bet you can't! I can't wait till May, will be here soon enough though:thumbup:
