  1. Nobody is saying J shouldnt be allowed to live well or work to better himself. However he seems to have an issue with the value of property/ land in Devon and theres not alot you can do about that. Calling people a cunt for voicing that opinion to me shows a lack of intellect and abilty to debate sensibly.
  2. So you have an issue with wealthy property magnates as you put it but want to go into private property development yourself?!
  3. Many people would like to buy a cheap bit of land and build. Just because we are in business requiring space to store machinary that shouldnt mean we qualify for some special discounted land to be able to build a luxuary home. If its business land you would already get tax relief anyhow. Human nature makes most people selfish. If your competive in business or profession you will want to be rewarded accordingly. There will be many people who look at you Jon and envy your expensive forestry kit or perhaps your architects wife salary. Your most likely able to afford some kind of property in Devon. If you want a big property either work more hours or if this isnt lucrative enough change careers.
  4. If you won £30m on the Lottery Jon would you mind paying £1m for a property with some land and barns on? Also would you give the remaining £29m away to people who cant afford property? Im guessing you wouldnt do this and would likely invest in land/property/shares and wouldn't particularly begrudge paying Devon prices.
  5. Why not wait until either you have the income/money to buy a 650K property or see if Brexit will effect property prices? Most people at your age couldnt buy a 650K property. In the mean time buy a small house and rent a bit of land from a farmer - plenty in Devon.
  6. Just seen this guy climbing a a 40m tree using a vine strop to get honey with bees swarming around. Amazing climbing: https://www.inspiremore.com/real-life-tarzan-climbs-200-ft-tree-to-get-honey-for-his-family/
  7. Down in Devon bey! Up London may be a bit more
  8. No need for 50k of equipment etc to start up. 5k-7k on a 3.5t tipper well maintened low mileage cabstar transit etc (sign write it), 5k on a timberwolf chipper, 2k on a few saws and hedgetrimmers, 1k a year on a yard rental to store stuff/bonfires etc, 2k on a shipping container, 1k on advertising. Invest the rest of 35k in shares, buy to let. Potentially stay with what your doing full time and do weekend work to start with , then cut down part time where your working.
  9. This small pedal powered chipper might be of use. You can sit down and watch tv in the evenings whilst chipping.
  10. New Greenmech cs100 is £4700 Timberwolf 18/100 is 8600. You will need a trailer for the greenmech not sure how much the greenmech trailer is. I had the greenmech and used a ifor 6x4 trailer but found it difficult to secure in the trailer so it didnt move about in transit. Ive now got the timberwolf 18/100. Chipping speed is similar but the greenmech is a tad faster. The blades need to be kept very sharp on the gravity machines. You will be able to find alot more second hand timberwolfs about as made since late 90s as entec. Probably get a reasonable one for for 2k. If your spending 8700 buying a new timberwolf 18/100 you'd be better off getting a decent second hand timberwolf 125 roller fed.
  11. Think it may be the corrigated fuel tube inside the tank connected to fuel filter. Went to take out and it was very cracked virtually fell apart! Ordered new one and will see if solves problem. Cheers
  12. Thanks for replies. Will check out the filter and lines in tank. The crankcase halves - would that be gasket leaking? Possibly right with the oil leaking up polefrom gearbox . Machine had been standing for 6 months approx. Think it was just filters plug new cord and blade sharpen at service. When you mention change diaphragms - what's this?
  13. Ive got an echo 2600 long reach trimmer running lean. I brought it second hand recently from a chap who had it serviced December 2016 at a local reputable dealer. Receipt for service was £140 - plug, filters all done etc. Unused since. starts easy and runs well until hot then starts hesitating when reving up. Also when at high revs looses power. checked the plug and its white - running lean. Ive backed off both the mix screws to get more fuel in which helped. (they have limiters on for emissions which only allow very small adjustment- might try and remove?) Have noticed fuel/oil residue around the base of unit where engine connects to the pole. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong with it?
  14. I recently brought a year 2000 timberwolf 18/100 Few questions Is there anywhere to get a manual for machine and 18hp kohler what battery should be fitted? the flyweel seems to require a fair bit of force to turn by hand - normal or sign of worn bearing? How much are bearings if they do go? ( directly connected to engine) material seems to get drawn in to the bottom right hand corner of feed (doesnt like to chip on the left of infeed if that makes sense) is this normal? cheers

  17. selling my Greenmech CS100 on Arbtrader: Greenmech CS100 chipper « ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds
  18. Contact a few small companies to see if you can do a day volunteering to see if you like the work. Get cs30, buy some ppe trousers, hat, boots and try to get more experience on the ground. Might just be a day here and there. get the other tickets as you go along. Doing all the tickets is alot of money and you might not find getting work experience any easier with all the tickets.
  19. OK thanks. It could be argued that the customer is paying you to take their tree away to dispose of - hauling the wood/chip to your yard . If you were commercially felling timber and then taking that off site to be processed would that be considered haulage/any different?
  20. Is taking arb arising's - logs, chip or brash from customers premises to the yard considered haulage or carriage of own goods from an insurance point of view?
  21. I was going to do a 20 percent reduction but involved climbing into it and after one if the stems broke very easily will have to be done off ladder with pruners. However I was interested in whether it could survive a pollard or perhaps being cropped back to a framework say 2ft stems ?
  22. Do you think this cherry has been pollarded before . Went to do a small reduction and one of the stems gave way with not much force on so weakly attached. Was thinking it might have once been pollarded back to near tge trunk. Large boll from where leaders are growing. Pics attached.
  23. 22 used greenteeth pockets from a carlton 900 h grinder . 12 have bolts and teeth. Any value second hand? I was thinking 50 quid? Would like them collected from exeter devon as a pain to post
  24. thanks- yes looks like that one. Would it have likely killed the tree or would the tree have died before this fungus set in?
