ok i would agree with you on that and say i would be happier to know that on the off chance that i need rescuing i had someone there even if it was not the done thing a bit like i like to know the guy on the ground knows how to work the hand pump on the mewp to get it down if it needs it ?(dont think thats in the rules) but i was glad when it happened even though i dont like the thaught of being made to

the one time any of us has an accident and needs rescuing for real and they have a rescuer with them, and gets rescued by them then they will be very glad they did. please all stop saying you will never have an accident deffinition of accident: a happening that is not expected, foreseen, or intended an unpleasant and unintended happening, sometimes resulting from negligence, that results in injury, loss, damage, etc. Law an unforeseen event that occurs without anyone's fault or negligence

im still finding this amount of risk taking hard to understand i cant believe what im reading and on the thread about hse i started everyone says they would be fine if hse turned up:confused1: yet saying one climber is ok on here :confused1:

its got to be better than nothing and if he dose the climbing on easy stuff he always has a good rescuer on site that way he gets better and better and when the tree is to difficult atleast he might be of some use rather than none at all if he cant climb

    Self Rescue

train the bugger then and let him do the easier stuff until he gets good then you'll be sorted? why is that not already the done?

£100 a day for a groundie.............you got any jobs going????? meaning that if he pays up to 180 for a climber he must pay around a 100 for a groundie our climbers only get around that money

I do 95% domestic work and to remain competitive you cannot add a rescue climber at £140 - £180 ontop of every domestic job, how much you can find someone for less than that pluss that wouldnt be 140 on top of the price it would be £40 over the £100 you would pay your normal groundie unless climbers cant chipp that is:sneaky2:
  16. in relation to the thread about rescue climbers etc would you on a normal day be worried if the HSE turned up on your site to check you out. would you pass their requirments i know that our sites are always up to scratch health and safety wise and wouldn,t be concerned that our training risk assesments etc were good enough im interested to know how others would feel?

the point was that paramedics would not have a climbing ticket and it may be necessary for a second climber to help them get up the tree to the casualty. it is getting off topic the fact of the matter is there should always be a "rescuer" on the site.

dont be rediculous a choice of those people every day spread over all the jobs to do that way we are far more flexible

    Self Rescue

im still in disbelief on most days we have 3 experianced climbers 1 newly trained one and a lad who can use the gear but hasnt done his tickets yet pluss groundies i dont see how people cant find staff and why they cant at least train the staff they do have even if they just teach them their self that way you might have a better chance if the worst happened also just a small point which was mentioned yesterday on a cs38 39 assesment it may be neccesary for the rescuer to help paramedics to get up a tree to stabalise the casualty until they could be safely removed from the tree i.e. if there was a spinal injury how do you do that without the correct staff on site? get a subby in? hi mate got an afternoons work for you if you want it bring your rescue stuff?????????

    Self Rescue

i cant believe what i have just read i never climb or allow any one to climb with out a second climber/rescuer as for useing extra cost as a justification for this is unaceptable health and safety rules should never be ignored like this imo im not saying that i think i will need rescuing or that they could get there quick enough but it is very bad for our industry to not follow its own Hs guidelines
  21. dopey:scared1:
  22. freaked me out
  23. ive got arm protectors they are great if you have to do anything with thorn! nice pics by the way looks a good climb but dont just concentrate on height try pushing yourself to get out to parts of the tree where you might have to go if you were working on it nice one post more pics of the next one:001_smile:
