i spoke to the supplier i use him on a regular basis had no problems ever he even says water and alot of privet are starting to show this problem. i did not guarrantee them and i feel i dont have a duty of care when i leave the property after the jobs done i gave her advice water/keep area free of weeds ect and after this length of time i feel its too late to come back and start moaning but want a agreeable ending instead of telling her where to go.

2 years ago i put in a privet hedge for a regular client of mine who recently rang me up to say she was not happy with it i went and had a look and all the base leaves were dropping off and the area was covered in weeds. I told my client that the leaves dropped due to lack of water and the weeds at the base of the hedge had to be cleared. I also did a scratch test at the base of the privet to check for green wood which there was to make sure they were alive.only today she rang me up saying shes not happy and wants to claim on my insurance for a new hedge. I told her i would as a goodwill gesture i would come round and clear the weeds and do a scratch test on all the shrubs and replace free of charge any privet that had died to be told no not good enough.now i dont want to tell her to poke it as this would be unproffesional and she knows alot of my other clients and she would make it known to them what had happened. I know the work was done 2 years ago but i dont need her bringing my name down as would be bad for business.

Should i check with my insurance to see if he is covered god forbid him having a accident and insurance trying to wriggle out of it

Thanks for that.i get in extra help when i need but my insurance only covers for me and my 1 member of staff so i was told to get subcontracters cover to cover for the extra person but i had to check he was insured incase he damaged anything or anybody whilst working for me so if they claimed off me i claim off his insurance he brings all his own equipment and i pay him for what he does would you class him as freelance or subcontractor and if he is subcontractor is there anything else i should do to cover myself.if he is freelance should i adjust my insuance.

Just reading the prices for freelance day rates would you expect the climbers to have their own insurance or cover them on yours.
