Client has now sent off appeal going down route of reasonable living conditions and reasonable enjoyment of the garden. Thought about shade tolerant grass myself but was too shady even for that. The garden is approx. 30ft long x 20ft wide and the oaks are right over the whole garden god to think what its like when the leafs fall. As I told client I am setting a president for this boundary line,will be a shame to fell it if we get okay. But if I don't someone else will. Will let you know on outcome when I hear. Thanks again.

I have a client who has an application to fell a oak tree refused but can prune side canopy 2mts. There not happy about decision and wish to appeal. The oak concerned is part of a old boundary line, when I saw the client I told them don't think you will get fell but will get prune. They want to appeal due to tree is heavily shading garden,they have no grass where lawn should be [worst I have seen]but yes tree was there before house. Can anyone give me any ideas on how they can proceed as the heavy shading is there only thing they can fight with. Tree is absolutely fine, I think they are wasting there time but they wish to proceed with appeal. I will not be involved in appeal just want to give advise so when quashed I can still do the pruning work. Thanks in advance.

last time I done a large area, knapsack of roundup 360 sprayed in june when in flower client was trying for 10 years to get rid it knocked it right back and now only spot spray to keep back regrowth. smaller areas individual ones paint neat roundup on them when actively growing seems to keep them at bay. there is a chemical forgot what its called will totally clear area but you cant plant anything in the area for 2 years.also is very expensive.

Gardener and trainee gardener required for busy maintenance round in Bournemouth. Will have experience in commercial and residential work. Also competent in using mowers,strimmers,hedgecutters and blowers. Pa1/6 also chainsaw tickets would be a advantage but not necessary. Have a good plant knowledge. How quick does it take to see results of the moss breaking down. many thanks

I do a fair amount of scarifing this time of year and have found a product called Bionik and Mobacter which eats the moss, due to the bacteria used in the product. Has anyone used it and is it anygood. Thought it may save me a lot of time, labour and waste removal.

I treat all my ivy with roundup360 never had a problem usually dead in a month, then I treat the cut roots with a paintbrush of neat roundup.

Been offered to price up cutting grass/strimming leave grass and spraying hardstanding and grass on gas sites in my area, at the moment I only do residential and commercial sites. As its utiliteys been asked to price per sq mt,can anyone give me a rough figure,do have my costings for work we do already is it better money doing this sort of work and if any tips on working in these areas as never done any of this sort of work before. just been to go outdoors had a look at there bags thought a bit flimsy was passing a Cotswold outdoor shop had a look at there bags bought 2 a 140lt and a 100lt bag, was £70 down from £120 and £60 down from £110 totally waterproof,heavyduty and came with 2yr garruntee if you took a free store card.really good hard wearing bags and looks like they can take a bit of abuse,larger one going to be rigging bag and other one for climbing kit,going back later for another one for my second climbing kit and they are giving vouchers £10 off when you spend £60.Best bag I have found well worth the money.

I would be carefull when you speak to clients about treating knotweed that they may think spraying may get rid of of it completely depending what chemical you use. I treat a fair few areas with roundup and I explain to the client it keeps it at bay but will not eradicate it completely.we spray once a year it gets knocked back but it comes back the following year. There is something that treats knotweed completely but I was told you cant replant anything for 2 years. If you are doing knotweed with roundup would be worth letting client know this as they may think once treated that's it and when it comes back they will be on the phone to you.

many thanks for the reply david,i have taken some pictures this morning if anyone can let me know that this is meripilus would be thankfull as tree has a tpo and in a conservation area and by a very busy main road. just wanting confirmation before I speak to tree officer. thanks in advance. hope I have done photos right no good on computers.
