  1. Just couldnt resist a bit of childishness lads......sorry for any coronaries incurred!
  2. Its treally crap isnt it. I hate the way that if we as the public are incapable or unfortunate- such as slipping on ice- we have to find a scapegoat we can sue for compensation. Its ice- take care.DOH!
  3. There is FAR TOO MUCH power in the hands of lawyers in this country:thumbdown:
  4. Or at least some level of notification- maybe a 'graded' TPO system, whereby permission/ intention is necessary for every tree. A PITA really, but for example keeping the TPO et up as it is at the mo, but bring all trees that would normally have no constraints at least require notice of intention to be submitted, that way at least there would be some consideration before said works are carried out. If you get what i mean:001_smile:
  5. If you look at the pic of the partially sawn log on the mill you can see the huge dip on the underside...just to make you bowl turners even more envious the shape is made by having enormous burrs...about the size of footballs....at each end! (They just got chucked on the firewood pile- they burn really well:thumbup1:...... NOT:lol:)
  6. Unfortunatelt they arent mine to sell, but if they were i would be looking fo in the region of £80/ft3, the going rate for green sawn oak being around the £30/ft3 at the mo, and these are spectacular. Each board is (very) roughly 1.4 ft3, so over £110 a board. However, as i say they arent mine, i just thought i would share the experience. Anyway, i'm off to deliver them now.
  7. Haha- thanks guys. It is all milled for somebody- not my timber, and the bulk of it is going to become a staircase, the rest will go to cabinet/ furniture makers. Some huge 60ish kilo burrs came out of the slab wood which will go to turners. Its milled on my Hudson Oscar 36 mobile bandsaw......
  8. Following on from my thread about the huge oak burr, here are some pics of one of the two trunks that came off it that i have finally started milling...
  9. The only way to get instant response from the old bill is to tell them that you or someone else is holdong a gun and is about to use it to cause harm to others. They will be there like a flash. My neighbour caught some lads going through his sheds one night and rang the police, who said they would get there within 45 minutes as they were very busy. He rang back about 45 seconds later telling them he had his gun out and was going to shoot the burglars, and within 3 minutes there were police everywhere. On being told that he had lied to the police he replied they had done the same, and with tails between their piggy legs they arrested the offenders and left, rather red faced.
  10. Sorry to derail a bit, but not being a mog owner, what do mean by starting controls- i take it you dont just get in and turn a key?

    what boots?

I really rate Haix boots, and although i spend about £180 on protector pros, like a lot of guys on here, they also do cheaper boots which arent gore-tex lined, but are still very good boots build-wise. You would do a lot worse than to type 'Boots' into the search engine at the top of the page Josh, as this topic has been covered extensively on Arbtalk.
  12. I have a Gransfor on my chrissy list.....hope someone obliges.......and that if they do that i dont leave it out:blushing:
  13. Streuth mate, i am seriously impressed....
  14. Cool, thanks for that. We used to turn them round on the front of the tractor that was rolling the pit when doing silage, but i never asked why.
  15. SWB and Skyhuck are actually the same person BTW.........there, i've said it.. :laugh1::lol:
  16. I love the huge tree on the skyline in the first pic- its almost tolien-esque- and also the last pic of the second set(post 3). I like them all, but those are my faves. Very evocative shots......Oh to be in England..
  17. Absoloutely fantastic pictures. Beautiful. Thanks for posting them.
  18. David- how many mogs have you actually got??!! And why edo you/ have you reversed the front tyres in one of those pics?

    Muddy yard

:blushing:reading this thread with interest.......between me and my neighbour (who share a lane) we had about 1000 tons dropped here last year for free:thumbup:All used in field gateways, yard covering and track repair/ instatement...The yard in my avatar is covered by a load. 8 wheelers on turn around all night for four nights from a30 works.
