  1. The best tip and advice has been given mate. If you are in a position that you need tips and advice, then take simon (Big Boss Bechwood) up on his very kind offer and then you will be in a more realistic positon next time you get a crabne removal job. Going in blind on a crane job usually ends in pain.
  2. RC2000 and some string....I already had the 390 lol
  3. I thought our rope was classed as static?
  4. Me too....got the rest of my new lowering kit....I ordered it on tuesday afternoon, and it was delivered to where i was working on wednesday mid morning........and you can see a bit of it if you look at my new avatar closely.
  5. Oh yeah....Radmore and tucker. They and the tavistock boys are both a fair distance away....hour or so. You couuld order some kit and pick it up from me if you like. I am based in redruth.
  6. This thread has been a thing of joy Tony. Thanks for sharing the pics.....stunning!
  7. Great set of pics Matt. You certainly have travelled....
  8. What sort of kit are you after? It seems a long way to go for kit......or do you have problems getting it in France? There is a place near truro which stocks a lot of chainsaw spares and a small amount of climbing kit, but nio harnesses if i remember rightly. I would go with what Treebeard said, except that i wouldnt give Doug Bennet the steam from my proverbial, and stick with Abbey as the lesser of 2 evils. Only my opinion though.

    what's this?

    :laugh1: sorry ady:blushing:
  10. Top thread Josh. You look well happy mate, and rightly so. Sweden looks beautiful. Keep 'em coming.
  11. A friend of mine was invited out for a p1ss-up last week in celebration of what turned out to be 'my son has just killed his first paki in the gulf'......he declined. Whatever the reason, it is sick celebrating the taking of human life. I have to agree somewhat with cassius clay....."No I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. "
  12. Happy Birthday Dean. Peter Kay.....he's hilarious!!
  13. And there-in lies your problem. I wasunfortunate enough to go on a landy forum once, and have never read so much ill-informed, opinionated supposition about this sort of thing before or since. Dont believe the hype about Britpart parts being poor quality, is just not true....a rumour spread by those with a purist heart usually. I have been using them for years without problem. I replaced the swivels on my defender about 6 years ago and they havent started leaking yet.
  14. That is a very sad reflection on how low people will stoop to get their desires.
  15. :lol:It may even outlast me!!
  16. I watered mine and it grew....I wish!
  17. Thats what i thought Steve. I have borrowed a portawrap based system when i havent ben using my own, ahem, 'rigging kit' and thought that if i spend just a little more, comparitively, then it should last me my working life.
  18. Nah- they make larger holes.......
  19. I love the really wind blown one with the curved trunk. It has an amazing crown for a tree in such harsh conditions.
  20. That was my nest question- i THOUGHT i recognised xander:thumbup1:
  21. Reg that is yet another set of brilliant work pics. I have been investing in a rigging kit at the mo- I have finally decided to bite the bullet having made do with i wont admit what and borrowing/ subbying. This thread and your vids on HB website have been extremely informative and very inspirational. Thanks for taking the time. I am going for an RC2000 based system BTW, as i think that will cover all bases for the time being. Top stuff sir.
  22. Steve your dad has fallen asleep with you and stew on the sofa with him....... LOl sorry. Great pic BTW.
  23. Just keep the ladder there to stop the mill dropping off the end, or move the handle according to the size of log (nearer the head on a smaller log) and use the bar the handle ios bolted to as a final guide. Turning the mill from the perpendicular also helps, as you can keep both rails on the log surface for longer. Raising one end of the log off the ground and milling downhill makes a MASSIVE difference to how easy it is to work, and tothe final quality of the cut. On sofwood i find that leaving the rakers a little higher than normal results in less 'grabbing' too, and in hardwooods a very sharp chain is essential.
