  2. 18m(ish) of Poplar two straight stems at least 30inchs in diameter. Suitable for sawlogs or kinderling can be sold in stick or in billets. Email: [email protected] for details. Timber is based in the Basingstoke area.
  3. not really interested in spending money on a kindling machine
  4. Is kindling worth doing ive got abit of poplar that is over a year old and was thinking about splitting it up for kindling i would split it with tractor log splitter to begin with then use a hatchet to get it smaller. Is it worth doing or is it a waste of time? does anybody sale much?
  5. Do you think people are getting fussier about there logs or just learning more about the industry. Alot of people are saying they don't want certain hardwood like Silver Birch when as long as its seasoned its fine. Whats going on?
  6. I travel about an hour and ten there and back most weeks you got to go where the work is and I love the job so i don't mind at all
  7. use a file getting a machine is just lazy
  8. those ladders are the dogs
  9. Does anybody have a woodland that they would be willing to let me cut some firewood in the Fordingbridge, Salisbury area. PM me if you do. Will
  10. It seems people are still using one hand the majority of the time and think its acceptable and safer. I think previous comments about people cutting themselves explains that its not SAFER IN ANYWAY.
  11. One handed chainsaw use should only happen at the extremitys. Thats what NPTC guidelines say. Top handeled chainsaws are not designed for one handed use. In my eyes its just lazy and the problem is that when a new climber comes into the industry they see everyone else doing it so then they think it is acceptable. Ive been lucky enough to have been told that its wrong from day one i mean whats wrong with using a sling, setting a rigging line up or just using your silky if the limb is small. Maybe climbers feel under pressure to do it i dont know but its not quicker and the risks are ALWAYS stacked against you.

  19. thats what im doing at the moment but i don't know whether to wait for southern electric
  20. i was due to start working for southern electric on the 1st of september but because there was an accident a few weeks before I had a phone call from them saying on the friday before a was due to start working that i couldn't because they can't recruit until a full health a saftey investagation was complete. they had no idea when it would be possible for me to start. ive rang them three times but every time ive had the same reply of "I don't know when you can start" yesterday i rang and he said he would get his boss to ring me to try and give me a better idea. I don't know whether he just said that to keep me happy. I don't really know whether to wait it out or just go self employed and work for various people on a self employed basis because i have a few people who would maybe be willing to take me on but at the moment work is not garanteed im not sure what to do any body got any advice?
