  1. PM sent buddy, good to hear from you
  2. Appreciate what you're saying, however, it's a lot of kit for 2 days a week use. Cost of running and insuring it, can't be justified anymore. I'd be working at a loss, hence deciding to sell up. Not an easy call by any means. So if you guys know anyone who's interested in the kit, please get in touch and we can discuss the ins & outs.
  3. 76AR, empty your in box as its full & I can't post a reply. Ta.

  8. A very happy new year to you all. OK, currently working out weather to sell up my business, due to a change of circumstances over the last year. Small tree business in Hampshire. Hi - Lux (2004), TW 150 DHB, few saws, rigging kit and small gear. How would one, e bay aside. ( to sell kit individually) go about selling it on? Any advice or offers welcome. Thanks and regards. L:001_smile:
  9. Hi buddy, Welcome to the forum. Good effort on your service in HM armed forces. But. Like me, the times comes for a change and it's time to move on. Ok. Happy days you're looking into the arb industry. Resettlement courses are offered at training in Kent. However. Take a look at Merrist Wood in Surrey. 9 week course. Hoofing course. Learn loads to take into industry. Service lads are valued in industry. They are punctual, honest, hard working, motivated, organised and keen to get on. So already you have many strings to your bow. Get some experiences by offering a days labour with a local company. Try and get some top tips and see how things go and how you end the job. From there, just see how you go. Enjoy it. Stay positive and keen and you'll be fine. PM me if you need further help. Cheers and all the best. Larry.
  10. Good morning people, an other wet n windy day!!! A heads up for you. A buddies yard near Fareham, Hampshire was recently broken into. SOS container doors ripped open with vehicle and chains TW 150 DHB, 2 x Sthil hedge trimmers, Sthil backpack blower & 2 x bags of climbing kit all stolen. Bad times. So please keep your eyes and ears open. Any leads, please inform. Hampshire Police. Also another yard not too far away from above, was also broken into and similar kit was also stolen. Secondly. Does anyone have chip dump / disposal area & burns site between Portsmouth & Chichester. Mine are slowly running out or depleting. Any help, as ever appreciated. Hopefully we can come to an agreement etc. Thanks people. Tight lines. L.
  11. Hi, Please can you tell me where the nearest authorised TW sales & repair centre is closest to me. ( rotor fin problems, you see)!! I'm in the Portsmouth area. My thanks. L.
  12. Good people, Whats the best and most effective and legal!!!, stump and root killler available? (liqiud etc). There are a few from B & Q etc any suggestions folks:001_smile: Help appriciated Larry!!
  13. Ladies & Gents. After work on Saturday, I wanted to to grab a shower, and get the the pub for the rugby!! But, I made sure all the saw etc were stowed and locked away and the hand tools were secure. Next morning, I found the tool locker on the side of the truck had been forced open. I was fuming. Called Police. Usual respoonse from the force!! However. I thanked my stars that I had stowed and secured all the kit. Thankfull for small mercies!!!!! The door and lock must be replaced but thats it. Aside that some scum broke into my truck!!!! My baby. My livelyhood!!!! So people, take those extra few minutes at the end of the day, Its worth it. All the best. Larry.
  14. Ladies and Gents, A Very Merry Christams and a Happy New Year. Seasons greeting and all the glitter etc!! People, I have a few jobs comming up in the new year and the stems are big ol beasts. As a small out fit my biggest saw is a MS 0441, with a 25 inch bar, which does stuggle some times. I cant quite justify buying an 088 or 064 / 66 just yet. Is there any companies that loan / hire big professional saws in the Portsmouth or surrounding areas? Also any LOLER inspeactors in the same area too. Many thanks hope Regards:001_smile:

Simples advice, many thanks , so thats a "No" from me then. Top man, many thanks!! Larry
  16. Hi, A very basic question, whats the signs and symptoms of my 150 blades requiring a sharpen? Ive heard long stringy chippings, chunks etc? Also after how many hours should they be sharpened? Thanks Gents Regards Larry.
  17. Chaps, Outstanding, Thanks very much, lets see how we get on. Regards.
  18. Hi, Every now and then my 150 DHB switches itself off in mid chip. Fuel tank is always full and the beast regularly cleaned and serviced. I think the vibrations my simply shake the key to the stop position? Any thoughts? Many thanks. Larry.
  19. Hi Lads, Well, the story so far. Smdge the cat is fine, Fed, dried out and back on terra ferma!! I have spoken to Karen, the lovely RSPCA lady, and we have agreed I'll get the cost of my fuel for miles travelled. Just this once I've done this because I'm a good egg. Next time I will charge and expalin this. As it was a random call, I was a little shocked and gob smacked at the request. Im now also registered on the RSPCA animal at height rescue call out sheet!! Brilliant!!! I will get free advertising, Karen and the Fire Service want a story on the local paper. They couldnt believe I made the climb in the pouring rain. I did expalin thats it the way tree work rolls and you have to get on with it, Karen said I was being modest!!! So why not, I thought, enjoy the status!! Hearts and minds is a massive advert too!!! Apparently the owner was very pleased, but was in shock so forgot to say thankyou!! There we are. And Karen and I are hitting the ale tonight!!! Pub, live band, good times!! All the best lads. Phil "Larry" Lamb. Brightside Trees. Hants.
  20. I'm slowly but surely building up. I sub for a day or two, other days pick my own smally jobs and gradually getting bigger. Now I have a chipper and truck, things really moved forward. One day a week, I do my retained fire fighter thing, so Im on call at home, doing books, cleaning kit, truck, chipper general admin. One night on lash a week, and make it very messy!!! On bigger jobs I use another lad from fire station who had his ground and rescue tickets. I cant go on fire calls while doing tree work, for obvous reasons. But I balance it out and Rome wasn't built in a day, but it was built in time. And lots of top tips from folk on here!! draw from thier knowledge and experiance. Like the Killers song goes. "I'm Mr Brightside" Take the knocks, stand up, big smile, crack on. Its all character building. Cheers Larry:thumbup: Brightside Trees. Hampshire.
  21. Lads, Today while packing up first job of the day, I had a random call from an RSPCA officer. Basically, a cat had been stuck up a big old ash for the past 48 hours, couldn't get down. The fire service ladders arnt high enough, and they cant free climb the tree. The USAR (SAS of fire service, cant justify a stranded cat to mobilse). To get a platform snorkel thing costs a bomb. So, a fire lad I know suggested to his boss giving me a call. 25 Miles later, I found the said cat up the tree, making a racket and generallly pretty cheesed off!! The owner said "are you gonna hurry up", as I was prepping my kit and planning my climb, in the honking rain. Cheeky mare!! I set about climbing the tree. I got to the cat, who was spitting and clawing. I was making daft noises to encourage the said cat to approach me. Eventually, I grabbed the beast by the scruff and dumped him into the cat basket, sent up to me by Tom, my groundie. Cat safely lowered. Larry safely lowered. Job done. Do I charge the RSPCA for an emergency job? The owner had no intention of paying and took the moggy and stomped off. No word of thankyou. Im thinking, be the nice guy, hearts and minds. But I did get the number and arranged a post rescue drink with Karen the charming RSPCA officer!!! Well lads, I thought I'd share that one with you. All the best. Be safe. Regards.
  22. Yep, indeed, will be there, working all day but should arrive in time to witness the Bowlam Moon walk. Justin. I intend to camp on site, just for your numbers mate!! Cheers.
  23. Gents, personally made the decision to give Arb show a miss and save myself for Jonsies gig. Just for the dancing girls!!!!! (Remember last year, or was it a girl?). Drive times are more or less the same to each event, I just enjoyed it that little bit more!!! But thats just my view!!! Cheers!!
