  1. i know what profit is, the figures just made me think turnover was being discussed. It depends how the busines is being run, if huge profits are the main goal of the business, big profits mean big tax bills. i would rather invest along the way and keep profits to a minimum. i used to concentrate on making as high a profit as possible when i was looking to borrow money but now i dont, i keep things to a minimium.
  2. are we now talking about turn over?because if a 3 man crew couldnt tickle 50k turn over then they arent going to make any money at all by the time they pay their bills before wages.
  3. thanks lads and also mr smarty pants mod that edited my title.
  4. well done, remember and get the pics up
  5. hi guys, i would love to make a log cabin for my yard. i know the theory is pretty simple, get some logs, cut the ends so they fit in nice and tight and stick them one on top of the other. simples!well if you know how that is. is there any of you guys out there with experience in doing this, would want to do it for me, or know of any courses going. i would be more than willing to come and see you do it if it is your job already and learn on site.

  9. sounds like great winter work if you ask me, what we all really love doing but have to spend most of the time picking sawdust out of plant pots and tidying up patios:thumbdown:
  10. found my old chipper today liam, it is where i left it 7 years ago, still looks good i thought considering. everything is on it, the pto shaft will just need greased up and the blades a good sharpen.
  11. far from being an expert on thining large mature trees, but how will that tree react now?can a beech take that kind of heavy pruning? i would of thought with all the open wounds she wont last that long. not being crytical mate, that is great shape and you must have a lot of climbing skill to carry out that job, just curious to know how it will end up:001_smile:
  12. i am on vt now, mainly to for the ergonomic reasons, but if i am honest i love the prussik, i used this for 11 years with no complaints for climbing, but as the years go on and this job takes its strain on my body i know vt is the way forward, once i master it properly on some descent big crowns then i will be a lot happier with it, the more i learn on here the easier each climb is tbh, you need to change as time goes on i think, what i do like abou the vt on either the climbing line or strop is the fact you can get closer to the stem. unless you carry 3 or 4 different prussiks with you..
