  1. get the scouts in for a sunday shift, make a donation and get a big bbq going for them, job done. did you see mikes home made skyline with a tirfor and block and tackle, worked a treat. set up the top line, then just attach the block in tackle and horse it up then send it down the line.
  2. not me, never thought about it, i am usually in someones garden. my dad used to carry flares when he was out on the moor alone checking snairs
  3. does that mean i get promoted steve:lol:
  4. i would clad the whole inside of my house in half logs but the wife says no and that it is a stupid idea, but if i thought i was in a log cabin then that would do me for now
  5. put it in your personal account then swap it over save paying the charge of 60p per hundred. it all adds up.
  6. i will see if i can find some pics, back in a mo, i did have a bath out in the field that we used to fill up and leave the beer and cider in all year round lol
  7. nice one mate, i will look out some of my old pics and see if i can scan them on here. thats a cracking set up mate
  8. thats the very one, and if a bendy piece of rhody got trapped under it would jam the flap shut and you cant get in. it is a finger staving vibrating nightmare. flaming ace is going to love it lol
  9. that was fantastic, thanks for that, i now sit here in my modern home dreaming of the wilderness and an axe. i used to live in an old shack in a field with just a log burner in it for nearly 5 years, it was bliss, no nieghbours, no hassle i miss it so much, but it was freezing as it wasnt insulated in any way. oh for a plot of land
  10. yes you, i think i will have to bump my gloria thread just for you andy lol
  11. sorry nailer i knew i should of put a smile in there but i was busy with the kids so every second counts loli wasnt getting a dig either not far wrong there, hypothetically speaking if this was to be the numbers, and the wages were to be what you say, mr boss man will need to start about 7 finish about 11pm, 7 days a week 52 weeks a year, so he will walk away with a salary of £8.58 an hour, have a really so back, no life and irritable bowel syndrome lol, have a melt down, chuck it all, sell his kit find a tree surgeons forum, become obsessed with it and re structure his life and business by using information from other guys in similar situations of different ages and sectors of the industry , tweek his set up, capture his own niche in his little market and make more for less and have a laugh along the way, thanks guys:001_rolleyes:
  12. i know what profit is, the figures just made me think turnover was being discussed. It depends how the busines is being run, if huge profits are the main goal of the business, big profits mean big tax bills. i would rather invest along the way and keep profits to a minimum. i used to concentrate on making as high a profit as possible when i was looking to borrow money but now i dont, i keep things to a minimium.
  13. are we now talking about turn over?because if a 3 man crew couldnt tickle 50k turn over then they arent going to make any money at all by the time they pay their bills before wages.
  14. thanks lads and also mr smarty pants mod that edited my title.
  15. well done, remember and get the pics up
  16. hi guys, i would love to make a log cabin for my yard. i know the theory is pretty simple, get some logs, cut the ends so they fit in nice and tight and stick them one on top of the other. simples!well if you know how that is. is there any of you guys out there with experience in doing this, would want to do it for me, or know of any courses going. i would be more than willing to come and see you do it if it is your job already and learn on site.
  17. sounds like my kind of tree officer lol
  18. good job, i helped on a job a few years ago just like that except it was about 20 of them, about the same size. the folk were fed up with the leaves i think
  19. hi pete, can you sort me out a price for a spare set of blades and a torx for taking them on and off please. stevie

  20. sounds like great winter work if you ask me, what we all really love doing but have to spend most of the time picking sawdust out of plant pots and tidying up patios:thumbdown:
  21. found my old chipper today liam, it is where i left it 7 years ago, still looks good i thought considering. everything is on it, the pto shaft will just need greased up and the blades a good sharpen.
  22. far from being an expert on thining large mature trees, but how will that tree react now?can a beech take that kind of heavy pruning? i would of thought with all the open wounds she wont last that long. not being crytical mate, that is great shape and you must have a lot of climbing skill to carry out that job, just curious to know how it will end up:001_smile:
  23. i am on vt now, mainly to for the ergonomic reasons, but if i am honest i love the prussik, i used this for 11 years with no complaints for climbing, but as the years go on and this job takes its strain on my body i know vt is the way forward, once i master it properly on some descent big crowns then i will be a lot happier with it, the more i learn on here the easier each climb is tbh, you need to change as time goes on i think, what i do like abou the vt on either the climbing line or strop is the fact you can get closer to the stem. unless you carry 3 or 4 different prussiks with you..
  24. well spotted franky. but i bet when you lift the hopper he has a lovley new number plate cable tied on it.
