  1. cool pics dave.at first i thought you took the photo at 8am lol
  2. i have black gunpowder stuck to one of my eardrums for being drunk and stupid with a firework. not big or clever. but that was funny as hell lol
  3. great news guys, i have forgotten what it is like to be starting out, i remember my first day in the surge, well i drove up the night before for a practice run to see how long it would take me, i was so nervous. The other lads seemed so laid back and bored with the job, i was like tigger, asking loads of questions, running about daft taking all the overtime i could get. within a few weeks i was driving the mog about, no one else wanted to. i would start earlier than everyone else so i could tidy the yard in the jcb, then get all the kit started and saws ready. And i was getting paid aswell:thumbup:the money was rubbish and i dropped wages to take the job but it was a dream come true. driving mogs and climbing trees. doesnt get any better:thumbup1:
  4. alexander is scared of the clowns aswell, just for the record.
  5. sitting in the back of a forestery comision sherpa van at 6am in winter in the dark doing about 80mph, sending your kit up the mountain on the skyline to save carrying it up, one saw for everything. trying to cut limbs of with a bow saw and hang on to the tree with the other arm.(at about 12). strange how even 15 years ago seemed so long ago when you compare techniques and kit
  6. as the others say, pull it over. the mnore folk the better for this. pull it as tight as tyou can before clamping it with the wood. then just push it down with your feet to tighten. the ends are hard to look neat, we tried folding, rolling alsorts, we ended up putting a frame in them so they can be attached to that. a triangle with a round edge isnt easy to fold nice and tidely
  7. its only recently you can get pl without el, the only time you dont(from what i was told) is if the worker is a member of your family. the theory being they wont sue you. but i am not sure if that is correct
  8. thanks tree expert for under quoting on national tv:sneaky2:
  9. sorry for my last post, robbing old folk isnt good, scum scum scum:thumbdown:
  10. it probably ran over the hill looking for its stick and thought it had gone to heaven and reg lowers his usual 2 ton lump:lol:
  11. how long does it take you between cuts to re rigg everything reg?
  12. get a log cracker then or a big log splitter, break it down to 6 foot lenghts to dry then just cut it up with a small saw
  13. so many new customers are always shocked when i just say 'no bother'. then they ask when i can do it, i say ' now' they are always so surprised
  14. gotcha, but unless its secon hand then it is all fortunes, and even second hand stuff is really hard to get your hands on just now. You will need a crane aswell then mate, so before you know it you will be spending a fortune anyway. just buy a new one.
  15. well its a date for next september then mate. we go down for 2 nights, me and a couple of others. the more that go the bigger the vehicle we get. A good old road trip. i think the next apf will be awesome now that so many of us know each other now:thumbup1:
  16. if there wasnt so many useless lazy folk in this country then it would be harder to be successful. they can stay in their beds and pubs for all i care, more for me:001_cool:
  17. most of us either use stihl or husky, stihl is the best by far:thumbup:
  18. i am lost, you just want a hydraulic saw for cutting it so its is a lower risk than a guy with a saw but you will let him split the logs with a machine? do you want to split the logs?
  19. what a horrible tree mate, the crown was rubbish, nothing worse having big latterals and no big leader. well done all involved and great pics n vids dave.
  20. those guys crack me up, wearing ballistics and boots in the middle of summer on your day off:lol:my apf attire is shorts,t-shirt and trainers with a back pack for the goodies. And if you go to the show with me the rules are you aint alowed to walk by a food stall with out buying something. Steak roll, pig n apple bun, burger and chips. but the trouble is they are all now in the one place. Then donuts and co co. then walk round the show twice, a bit like flicking through the sky channels, then round for the 3rd time to the excat stands you are after, then its time for lunch:thumbup:
