  1. interesting read It's the only reason we got rid of our tw150 is the bearings kept failing, compared to our old cramer which just kept going for over twenty years only parts stop us using it today!!!! Why can't this bearing problem be sorted?
  2. around here (lowestoft suffolk) you would never get the sort of money you guys are talking about to your average domestic job,we used to charge 160 a day for a six hour day with a TW150 and 200 for the 9in crammer. But we got rid of both chippers now because we were always under cut, some peeps around here were charging less than a ton!!!!!!!!!!! if we trusted them we would sub em just to get em out of loop.
  3. Dave If you're interested in the saw I'll post it to ya but how much are you offering?? I'll upload some pics today on the site. It's a very reluctant sale I bought it around six years ago to replace a 372xp I use it with the small bar all the time mostly on hard wood thinning, the bigger bar is little used.It will come with new chains on each and some spare one's.

  4. I've got a husky 365sp with a 15n bar and a 18in I'm thinking of selling, but before I fleabay it what sort of money do you lot reckon I'll get for it.I am not willing to let it go for next to nothing because it is in very good order and well looked after. I do have a figure in mind any idea's.Also is it best at buy it now or auction??
  5. one usefull bit of kit for river side trees is a tirfor winch for hang ups and for the odd water bound one.
  6. yes but after a couple of years another number begining with "2" will be needed!! just go for the stihl and avoid the same mistake others had made including me I have had lots of diferent saws in the past(top handles) and the stihl ms200t is the best.Huskys are a no no in the tree to apoint of being dangeress!!!!!! even tho I am a husky fan they make great ground saws but not top handles
  7. I have mine serviced/and tested once a year for around £30 get the experts to do it well worth it
  8. beal blue and white is hard and good,I use regate prussik on it and it's good trouble is alot of rope is very soft not this one and very hard waring
  9. My local pub bird(lauren)said huskys are better as they are orange does this solve it?
  10. It's one of them things which I've allways looked at but never touched even when felling trees in the coldest of days out on the broads
  11. johningtrees speaks my language
  12. I've had a husky 365sp for 7 years now and it has been to hell and back as this is used on dirty willows in the river and has been dropped in the drink and it still keeps going so not all huskys are short lasting a great saw for general work and not too expensive(ideal ground saw for hard wood but with a 18in bar)
  13. cheers tree beard I just have never looked into it before I will not move it then!!!!!!
  14. It acured to me aday as I was up a willow tree in the snow(waiting for my groundie to pull his finger out) that I have never turned that cold weather start bit on my MS200,does anybody do that!!!!! as all my saws have em but I never turn them will they run better or is this just a VERY cold weather thing like in Norway.
  15. crazy chucking ya gear if it's just 5 year old!!! has it had a hard life???ie dirt as I have had my petzl navaho harness for tens years and a length of blue/white beal for the same and use them regular!!!! and look after them and expect them to last a few more year.
  16. I use 25in(GB) on the 044 which is pretty good for felling(mostly oak/ash)had no problem(but with solid nose) and is my fav at the mo, a 15(husky) on the 365 for limbing I just love the 365 ,and not forgeting the good 14in on my ms200.This is my normal gear which I use the most.I have also a 2154 with a 20 which is not a bad compo and a 3120 with a 36 which is never used as I was trained in the art of small saw cutting but I'm not going to "bore" you with that

    bin it?

the barrel was very bad it was worn on one side only !!I did think of replacing both(piston/barrel) but I was glad to get rid of the thing
  18. does anyone know here I can get some amenity bark chips for my local school in the east suffolk area, as we had some before and they were not good enough (too much wood) any help would be most welcome thanks
  19. I must admit not to having any blow ups yet but what I have noticed that the new saws aways run hotter than my old saws.I run everything on husky 50/1 I think the modern saws are just not so good as the old classics

    bin it?

I had the same problem with the dreaded 338xpt and in the end it was the rings!!!! just bin it and start again ,any secondhand saw is always a risk and the time spent playing about with isn't worth it.I tried everything with my husky I sent it back to the dealer changed the carb plug filters and in the end it was just used up!!!I had it for three years so was well used and payed for itself. So I took it apart and the top ring was bust and the piston was black due to blow past when it was cold it was great but once it had warmed up it was a nightmare, just when you needed a saw to behave it would play up,and when you are forty foot up a rotted ash it's not the time. I put it on ebay for spares and got over a hundred quid for it hope I'm not too depressing about your saw but tophandle's need to be in the best of condition for use aloft otherwise they can become dangeress and frustrating.
  21. hello my name is Mark and I have had a tree surgery business for around 15years based in lowestoft suffolk area, I found your site and had to give it ago.Three years ago I down sized sold all my gear two chippers all my lowing gear also two bods!!! (apart from the ms200 and petzl harness) mainly to persue a more easy lifestyle ie hedge cutting. But now I've had the urge to climb again I have completed a few "jobs" in the last few years but nothing big.My old contracts were with broads related projects mostly large willows along river backs you know the sort of work, and with the odd garden tree to dismantle.Hopefully I will pick up a few tips on hear on gear and stuff great site
