  1. Think I'd have moved my Porche.....or not taken it to work, its a nightmare getting the Sawdust out of the carpet!
  2. Hi Slasher, Completed Chas and Constructionline in October this year, I would recommend going CHAS 1st I filled in all the H&S for both only to find if you have CHAS accreditation you automatically pass the Constructionline H&S accreditation! ...Bugger!! Not seen any benefit to either yet but its another string to the bow and put a few things in place that werent already there so more of an inhouse benefit to us.
  3. I've just signed up to a debt collection firm, for £350.00/year they assure me they will get payment on 2 firms that went into liquidation on me in 2006+2007 total of around £4.5K, this also includes 10 credit checks on new customers, debt collection on all invoices over the agreed term and CCJ's and collection on existing bad payers.....not sure how it will work out but if they get my money back they have paid for themselves for this year.
  4. Good point well made Rich!! It states on the EA website debris created from tree surgery operations is not considered waste untill it is mixed with other debris, therefore when you throw your sandwich wrappers on the wagon it becomes waste and you need a licence to carry it! !
  5. Any midlands guys based closer to Coventry......I'd have to bfing the wife as designated driver which would spoil all the fun!
  6. Hi Pal,

Grinder still going well, we have recently had to do a bit of "cosmetic" welding due to user abuse so its slightly spalted red in parts but handy little machine.

Wedding went well thanks and a little on on the way now too!

Hows things up there, keeping busy?

  7. Cheers Lee If all the guys without one had spent as much time filling in the application form as they did complaining about it on here it would be on the office doormat before you tip off your next load of "virgin timber"
  8. it must be a nightmare separating the: "woody parts of trees including branches and bark derived from forestry works, woodland management, tree surgery and other similar operations " From the "clippings or trimmings that consist primarily of foliage"
  9. I fear for the poor sods who have 100+% mortgages and are up for renewal, I blame the greedy lenders who are now sat on the fat comission cheques!!
  10. Nice view Chris...is that the flying dog that ruined Monkeyd shirt on your avatar!!!
  11. Hi Yorkshireman,

I noticed you are ISO 9001 approved, we have just recieved the starter pack for 9001 & 14001 and have a gap analysis booked for Dec, can you give me any tips on what to expect - the girl at BSi was a little vague.

We also became CHAS and Constructionline accredited recently, are you finding it has many benefits?

    Any advice is gratefully recieved.

    Cheers - Simon

  12. bats?...I thought they were small dogs with wings! I think this was the fella that ruined your shirt - he had a very content look on his face!!!
  13. Not tried or tested mate, just my thought on a possible loop hole for anyone wishing to have a go!, I have the licence and dont see what the fuss is about you basically need one, the only hassle is filling in a form and writing a cheque then its job done forget about it for 3 years.
  14. My old beast -- would pull anything, even my 7.5 tonner fully loaded with chip and bedded in up to the axles in mud....sideways!! I sold it on ebay to a guy from Poland.
  15. If you sign into the contract when undertaking the tree work that you will purchase the logs and chip from the customer once the work is completed (for a £1) it no longer becomes waste so if you do less than 50 jobs a year it may be cost effective!!!
  16. You can download the form on the environment Agency website or just call them and they will send you one. I cant remeber but I thing ours came in a couple of weeks. The only exemptions of waste are: 1. Waste producers carrying only their own waste, except building or demolition waste. 2. Persons transporting waste which comprises only animal by-products. 3. Persons transporting only mines and quarries waste or only agricultural waste.
  17. Manafaru Island, Maldives...my honeymoon!
  18. Cost in relation to hassle ratio its a no brainer, the licence is so easy to get (providing you are doing things properly) and only £50.00 year - compared to getting pulled and fined theres only one option for me. Its also a requirement for Arb Approval......how many on here are arb approved, have you found it a benefit??
  19. As far as I know class 3 generally relates to chainsaw boots I have never come accross it in trousers, there are 3 levels:- Class 1 - 20 m/s Class 2 - 24 m/s Class 3 - 28 m/s.
  20. Not listed any vacancies on here yet so cant comment on how successfull it is, its a great source of info and generally brings a smile to my face when I read through the posts!....favourite phrases had me in tears!!!
  21. I'll have a bash, include me pls.
