    Hi Pal,

     

    Grinder still going well, we have recently had to do a bit of "cosmetic" welding due to user abuse so its slightly spalted red in parts but handy little machine.

     

    Wedding went well thanks and a little on on the way now too!

     

    Hows things up there, keeping busy?

    it must be a nightmare separating the: "woody parts of trees including branches and bark derived from forestry works, woodland management, tree surgery and other similar operations " From the "clippings or trimmings that consist primarily of foliage"

    I fear for the poor sods who have 100+% mortgages and are up for renewal, I blame the greedy lenders who are now sat on the fat comission cheques!!

    Hi Yorkshireman,

     

    I noticed you are ISO 9001 approved, we have just recieved the starter pack for 9001 & 14001 and have a gap analysis booked for Dec, can you give me any tips on what to expect - the girl at BSi was a little vague.

     

    We also became CHAS and Constructionline accredited recently, are you finding it has many benefits?

     

    Any advice is gratefully recieved.

    Not tried or tested mate, just my thought on a possible loop hole for anyone wishing to have a go!, I have the licence and dont see what the fuss is about you basically need one, the only hassle is filling in a form and writing a cheque then its job done forget about it for 3 years.

    My old beast -- would pull anything, even my 7.5 tonner fully loaded with chip and bedded in up to the axles in mud....sideways!! I sold it on ebay to a guy from Poland.

    If you sign into the contract when undertaking the tree work that you will purchase the logs and chip from the customer once the work is completed (for a £1) it no longer becomes waste so if you do less than 50 jobs a year it may be cost effective!!!

    You can download the form on the environment Agency website or just call them and they will send you one. I cant remeber but I thing ours came in a couple of weeks. The only exemptions of waste are: 1. Waste producers carrying only their own waste, except building or demolition waste. 2. Persons transporting waste which comprises only animal by-products. 3. Persons transporting only mines and quarries waste or only agricultural waste.

    Cost in relation to hassle ratio its a no brainer, the licence is so easy to get (providing you are doing things properly) and only £50.00 year - compared to getting pulled and fined theres only one option for me. Its also a requirement for Arb Approval......how many on here are arb approved, have you found it a benefit??

    As far as I know class 3 generally relates to chainsaw boots I have never come accross it in trousers, there are 3 levels:- Class 1 - 20 m/s Class 2 - 24 m/s Class 3 - 28 m/s.

    Not listed any vacancies on here yet so cant comment on how successfull it is, its a great source of info and generally brings a smile to my face when I read through the posts!....favourite phrases had me in tears!!!

    I would say complacency and not thinking/rushing causes more saw accidents, however you should always have in your mind the fear of the damage a saw can do to you - they dont do little cuts! This fear should be combated by competnace in the use of the saw and thinking through every cut!

    I think you need to take into account the target - School children and the fact that this defect has been idntified. I agree, I would remove weight and possibly brace. Failing that fell it and cut it up for firewood!!

    How much end weight is there is it the whole vertical limb on the left over the path?

    Deffo..I've brought some of the cheaper top handles over the years to use as second saws or for light pruning etc. Not woth it they dont last the abuse they get on a daily basis... 200T's all the way!!
