  1. Why did you take the top off it?
  2. I've got one mate, but don't like using it much on retained trees. And not ones where final pruning cut is similar to bar length! Laws of gravity apply - ouch! TBH, it was great just having a decent climb instead of mincing around with shrubs. The customer is a multi-millionaire who requested us for the job, so had plenty of time to enjoy the job and not just chase the money for a change. Lovely setting, an old smugglers house complete with 5 acre paddock and 15 acres of mixed woodland. The dogs had a great time as well. Happy days.
  3. 50m would last me till I die if it's as good as you reckon! Will have 20m or so, I'm sure some other guys will want the rest! How much do you want per metre in Sterling Drew? Don't be afraid to load it a bit to pay some crucial beer tax! Jonesie's show is an obvious meeting point, but haven't you got a wedding or something?
  4. Nice one. Did yew leave it?
  5. This afternoon's effort. Cracked limb on a Monterey Pine hanging on a tennis court fence. Straightforward, nice climb, high anchor, drop down, dismantle. 12" wound and 36" split in remaining limb, but should be OK, and would only fall in a field. Talked them into retaining the tree, but it would be a big fun dismantle. Sorry no action pics, but you can't trust the groundie with these Monterey Pine jobs.....
  6. And it's really noisy and cold in the winter....
  7. Sorry, forgot to mention this rule doesn't apply to me! My Samsung is made of scratches and sawdust. Have had to ring it a few times to find it in hedges etc. Why DO groundies want to speak to their woman all day?
  8. I don't get the Cabstar joke at all, but will monitor this project with interest. I love seeing them with massive greedy boards on, full of chip, with the driver gritting his teeth with terror on every bend!
  9. My new rule of 'leave phones in the truck at all times you work-shy little retards' means we no longer need tough phones on site! And productivity has strangely increased as well....
  10. Go for it CTS. And stick a V12 lump in it so you can outrun the feds!
  11. We need to bribe Drew to bring a coil over with him when he visits....
  12. I auditioned once. My maximum bar size let me down....
  13. He's a prem footballer you retards! Stripper! What are you lot like!
  14. I thought the red colour was mental when I first saw them, but now I want some. Saving my pennies for Jonesies show.
  15. Can't be mate. It's highly illegal to show a picture of AP in this country. Or even speak of it...
  16. Close one bro! Good testament to your whipping skills, mind. Out of interest, what sort of cord is that loop made of?
  17. Cash is indeed King! Are they the new Stretch Air boots Stevie? Comfy? You will end up looking as cool as Tommer9 in his new Robocop lid! I'm jealous as hell fellas. I NEEEEEED some new shiny.....
  18. Haven't had a problem with that Jamie. Give it a bash, it works a treat when you want to come down to receive a hot brew and some cake from a nice old dear then fly back up there! I am speaking hypothetically about all this, and hopefully will at some point start actually climbing again, rather than the mixed bag of shrub trimming and gardening type shite which is forming the bulk of my job list at the moment. I may not need the Pantin to climb a Buddleia.....
  19. Exactly the same here mate. Haven't priced anything over a day for weeks. I used to like little £200 jobs. Easy day, early finish. They won't make us into millionaires by this time next year though will they?
  20. There's the thing. I've increased the no. of braids after some hairy experiences, so true self tending ain't happening. I'll go for the Pantin thing and see how I get on.
  21. The ART saver, or ropeguide, is the posh cambium saver with a pulley in it. Set your main anchor with this as normal. Install a 2nd pulley just below/to the side of it. Clip this pulley to the tail end of your rope. Keep it all near you as you descend. For re-ascending simply pull down on the tail. Hey presto! You have a mechanical advantage for pulling yourself up the tree, and your VT is advanced automatically! Great for long re-ascents, but does use twice as much rope and can over complicate some jobs. Hope I've explained it OK. I think Rupe explained it to me, and is a Treemagineers trick, I think.
  22. That system looked excellent, but will try just one first. I'm on 11.5mm Blaze, and the only time it will ever self tend is with the groundie pulling on it! Or with a 2nd pulley next to my ART saver.
